FUESD Resources

Dear Families,

Here is a list of district resources and important links to our social media. I will be reaching out weekly to connect with our families. The most important thing to remember is that keeping kids safe at home is a priority for our school and district. Please continue to check the FUESD website and our school website for current updates. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Thank you!

Chromebook Updates

The administration will be in the office on Monday, March 23rd for Chromebook distribution to our students in grades 3rd-8th only who do not have devices in the home already. Students must be present to receive a device. Details regarding Chromebook distribution for K-2 will be forthcoming.

If you are in grades 3rd-8th, have access to the internet, and would like to check out your Chromebook, you may come to San Onofre School at your scheduled time to pick one up. Keeping in mind statewide social distancing efforts, we have purposely staggered the times to minimize crowds.

If your last name begins with:
A-F you may come in from 9-9:30
G-O you may come in from 9:30-10
P-T you may come in from 10-10:30
U-Z you may come in from 10:30-11

If you do not have the internet in your home, Spectrum Internet is providing free wireless internet during school closures. To receive free internet, call Spectrum at 1-844-488-8395 and they will be able to assist you.

A Message from our School Counselor- Mrs. Finkle

Hi San O! Mrs. Finkle here, I miss you all very much! To help us stay in touch, all of the counselors got together and made a website full of counseling videos, lessons, resources, and information for students and parents. We'll be updating the website weekly with a new challenge and video focusing on mindfulness, coping, connectedness and other topics to stay engaged. Once the website is ready, I'll add the link here. So, check back later for the link.

Together we can be strong! I will keep you posted and I'll talk to you all soon! -Mrs. Finkle

STEM is applying what we've learned to the real world. It answers the age-old question, "Why do I need to learn this?"

Here are some great sources to engage our minds and apply our learning:

Hour of Code It's more than just an hour. It's using critical thinking in a fun way to create and design.

Mystery Science This is a collection of lessons and Mystery Dougs that can be done during this school closure. You can find activities by grade level. There is no login.

PBS Design Squad: Stuff Spinner Activity Finder At this site, you can select 1-3 materials that have at your house and spin the spinner. It gives you an activity using just these materials.

Our next newsletter will have more STEM activities.

Stay safe and healthy!
~Ms. Flaherty
