Panther Post
January 18 - 23, 2016 - Serve, Lead & Inspire
Hello Panther Parents and Guardians,
Another great week at Lopez! Last semester students expressed a desire for us to put some microwaves in the cafeteria. It's hard to say no to these kids sometimes, lol. So guess what? We have microwaves. Please talk to them about how to keep the microwaves clean and to not put metal in them, etc. We will have a sign, but your help will be appreciated. I am sure at first they will have a novelty effect and there will be a bunch of kids wanting to use them. We have four, so I am expecting some lines at first. You might want to think about sending something that needs to be warmed up only every once in a while at first to make sure they are not standing in line the whole time instead of using the time to socialize, etc. Hopefully it works out for them - they deserve it!
Coming up on Valentine's Day, there is always a desire to have huge displays of affection (balloons, teddy bears, etc.) delivered during the day. It usually ends up distracting from the learning. I ask that you do not deliver items to the school during the day. Students will not be able to carry around these items or take them into classrooms. This means anything they do bring, must be able to fit in their lockers. This goes for birthday celebrations as well. I know these kinds of things are fun for the kids, but as you can imagine, it can often get out of control. So, I just ask that the items are small enough to fit in their lockers. Thanks for your understanding. And please, no decorations on the outside of the lockers. It often takes a lot of work to remove them afterwards.
I also wanted to make a shout-out to our art students and teachers. We received results from the Scholastic Art Awards and Lopez was outstanding! We had the most awards out of all the middle schools in the region. Way to go!
