This week's BUZZ
Week of March 6th
Welcome Father Carlos!
Dear Saint Anna School Family,
I am Fr. Carlos Ruiz, new pastor of Saint Anna Parish and School. I hope this message finds you well.
I would like to take the opportunity to greet you and introduce myself. I was born in Colombia in 1987, an only child of a Catholic family. I went to Catholic School for 11 years where I had the best years of my childhood. Before becoming a priest, I got a master’s in Education and proudly taught Ethics and Religion in the grades one to eleven. Then, God called me to be a priest. I arrived in the United States in 2011 and was ordained in 2015.
I want to express to you and all your families how happy and blessed I feel by having been called to serve this loving and faithful community. I want to thank each one of you for being part of Saint Anna’s family. I am here to minister to you, following the example of Jesus the good and loving Shepherd. I am looking forward to meeting all of you and working with you as we do what is best for our children.
Please be assured of my prayers, unconditional support, and company.
May God, through the intercession of Saint Anna, bless and protect our children.
Blessings and Peace,
Fr. Carlos RuizPastor
Lenten Food Drive - Grade 3
St. Anna School’s 3rd Annual Lenten Food Drive
Help Us Make a Difference for Families in Need
As a Pillar of Lenten Service, the 3rd grade has taken on organizing our annual Lenten Food Drive. The food drive will continue through Lent, ending on Holy Thursday. The school (grades PreK-8) will collect canned goods and dry goods to donate to the St. Anna food pantry. Our food drive will help families in our community.
Every single donation helps, and together we hope our combined donations will make a real difference for those in need.
Here are some suggestions:
Canned vegetables
Peanut butter
Baked beans
Canned fruit
Jelly/Jam
Rice
Canned chicken
Crackers
Rice and beans
canned tuna
Mac and cheese
granola bars
instant potatoes
100% fruit juices
multigrain & low sugar cereals
Each item donated is worth 1 point. We will have an item of the week (The Blue Light Special). This item will be worth 2 points. The class with the most points will win a pizza party! The donations will be collected and counted by class each morning by the 3rd grade.
Thank you for your help!
Sincerely,
The Third Grade Class

Bible Study Group to begin....A great way to get in the spirit of LENT.
Join us Friday mornings at 9 AM for a new 8 week study of Mary, A biblical walk with the Blessed Mother beginning March 20th. During Lent, we will be in the Holy Family of Nazareth church hall, with the exception of good Friday when we will not meet. After lent is over we will move back to Saint Anna church hall, still at 9 AM.
Feel free to let anyone know. The book costs $24.95 and is the only material necessary for the study. Each meeting contains a discussion portion where we go over the questions and answers we have done on our own and then watch a short video together. We always have coffee, fellowship, and snacks as well.
Anyone with questions is free to email me at Jekeiselbach@gmail.com
The formal description of the study from the Ascension press website is this:

Nurses Corner - Important news and updates
The Diocese of Worcester and St. Anna have your child's safety and health in mind.
COVID-19 is a respiratory illness caused by a novel (new) virus, and we are leaning more about it every day. There is currently no vaccine to protect against COVID-19 at this point. The risk today is reported to be low according to the Mass. Dept. of Health.
The best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to the virus that causes it. Stopping transmission of the virus through everyday practices is the best way to keep people healthy. Rest assured, we at St. Anna are doing our best to wipe down doors, railings, light switches and school furniture to reduce the risk of transmission of spreading any viruses. We are utilizing antibacterial soaps and encouraging our students to wash their hands regularly and cover their mouths when coughing or sneezing.
If your child has a cold/stomach /cough, please refrain from returning to school as per our 24 hour school policy noted in the handbook.
To prepare for possible community transmission of COVID-19, St. Anna and local schools are working together should additional precautions need to implemented.
Precautions to help prevent colds and flu can help protect against COVID-19. These sites are updated regularly with the latest guidance regarding accurate data from the scientific community.
