Early Engineers Registration is now open.
Bricks 4 Kidz Early Engineers LEGO® Club is a fun, hands-on class where students build machines, vehicles, contraptions, and other motorized models out of LEGO® components including bricks, gears, axles, motors, etc. Emphasis is placed on the principles of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Students build a new project each week. Class begins with a teacher-led discussion related to the day’s model and the science behind it. Students then build a motorized model illustrating that concept. This class provides the foundation for Bricks 4 Kidz robotics. Click here to begin registration.
💗Character Warms the Heart Week: February 13-17
February 13-17 is our Pirates ROCK "Character Warms the Heart" week, when we warm up with our good character and great leadership with fun spirit week activities and collect items for our Treasure Chest resource center to help PCR-3 families in need. We're collecting shampoo & conditioner, body wash, deodorant, and cereal this year. Participate in our spirit days and send in any donations to our schools! Reminder: Friday, February 17 there is no school for our District Inservice Day, a great day to send a nice note to a friend or staff member. See flier for details on our spirit days and come cheer on our Pirates at the Home Basketball games on February 14!
2023-24 Academic Calendar Approved
The Board approved the academic calendar for the 2023-24 school year, as suggested by teachers, support staff, parents and board members on the calendar committee, and taking into consideration feedback during public review. The first day of school on August 22, the last day of school on May 22, and potential makeup days are planned for May 23, 24, and 28-31. It is important to note this calendar makes a shift from 2-hour early release days for Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to full-day Professional Learning Days. The change in approach will provide teachers with more efficient and focused time for professional development, while reducing the number of days parents have to find day care alternatives for their children.

State Assessments and Planning Ahead
PCR3 State Assessment Window Announced!
State assessments, for students in grade 3-5 at Siegrist Elementary, will occur between April 24-May 19, which is our announced PCR3 district assessment window. If you are planning any family vacations, trips, etc and have a student in grades 3-5th, if you could try your best to avoid your child(ren) from being absent during this time (April 24-May 19th) it would be very much appreciated. We will communicate specific grade level testing dates once they have been determined at Siegrist. Thank you for your partnership!

Second Semester…….Continuation of Excellence
Did you know the district utilizes Fastbridge to assess students in their reading and math progress quarterly? Additionally, Fastbridge has a component, called SAEBRS, where we look at social/emotional needs. We use the data to help determine if students are progressing, in need of additional support, and to provide meaningful experiences in a safe and caring environment. Second semester is a continuation of learning and excellence. Your child(ren’s) teacher and staff members are working daily to help your child(ren) be successful, to this end your partnership is crucial, here are some ways you can help:
School attendance; can’t stress the importance of being at school for your child’s educational success. December average student attendance percent is UP (see below chart). Thank you!!
Tardies count against student attendance, reach out to us if you or your child is needing supports
Communicate with your child’s teacher with any changes, needs, or wonderings you have about your child(ren)
Read your teacher’s weekly newsletter….shared electronically each Thursday
Students in grades 3-5 will be participating in the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) in April and May, getting ready to take the state assessment doesn’t start then. Taking the MAP assessment is our students’ chance to showcase their learning throughout the year(s).
