On September 15th Juniors and Seniors took the ASVAB test. Scores were received and gone over with students in a High School Career Seminar on October 6th. The students were given a breakdown of strengths and weaknesses based on their individualized results. They were also shown possible careers that would go well with their results.
BHS hosted a Blood Drive on September 20th with 24 students, teachers, and community members being able to successfully donate blood.
Later that evening we hosted a Texas Workforce Success Night in which students and family members were able to learn about what the Texas Workforce has to offer. Students and their families were given great resources to help cover the cost of college and expenses related to furthering their education. The Texas Workforce also presented great information on how to utilize services even through later adulthood. Students and families were also fed a wonderful meal of pulled pork sandwiches prepared by Mr. Joey Woods.
September 22nd was the annual See You at the Pole. Students were served donuts and water and given a See You at the Pole bracelet. After an opening prayer, students divided into smaller groups for additional prayer time before starting the regular class day.
On September 24th, Mrs. Shelby Weatherford's Culinary Class attended a training session on proper food handling and earned their Food Handler License. It's always very exciting when students earn certifications!!
On September 28th, a group of seniors attended a College Fair hosted by Hemphill ISD. These students were able to speak to colleges about degree plans, admission requirements, the cost of attending, and more. Each student left with lots of information from many colleges throughout Texas.
Broaddus High School hosted our District Cross Country Meet on October 13th. Our Varsity boys advanced to Regionals as a team with John Patten and Colton Modisette qualifying individually for Regionals as well!
