Pimpin Joy

Yep you read that right! Mr. Knipper showed me this video this week and it has become my new favorite song, actually it is now my motto! We have a lot of new stuff, stress, and feelings of being overwhelmed, but we must remember to not let it take our Joy and that someone somewhere always has it worse than us. Judy definitely has it worse than me and she is choosing Joy because, why not!?!? Please remember that our students feel our stresses and if we are not choosing joy and loving what we are doing what does that look like to them? I personally as a dad of 3 students here want them to see staff members that show up and do the day with joy. What are you going to choose? I'm choosing joy, who wants to #pimpinjoy like Judy with me? Please enjoy the video below! :)

NWEA Testing Windows

Fall Term is 8/1 - 11/30 with a testing window of 8/1 - 9/29

Winter term is 12/1 - 2/28 with a testing window of 12/1 - 1/26

Spring term is 3/1 - 6/15 with a testing window of 3/19 - 5/18 (I do not have the testing window open until after ISTEP/IREAD.

Please make sure you are ready to receive your students from recess. I.A.'s will bring them to your hall or designated drop off point but can't stay to supervise students as they have to return to the playground to continue their supervision.

Please note that I don't want to see students placed on the wall at recess time. There are exceptions to the rule (i.e....a student has been asked to not chase/touch others and continues to not obey) if you feel a student needs to be put on the wall please come talk to me.

From Nurse Megan

Good Afternoon, friends!

Nurse Carmien and I are excited to have our community health nurse, Leshia Howell, coming to school on September 14th for Vision Screening on our students in preschool, K, 1, 3, and 5 who do NOT currently wear glasses. With my maternity leave rapidly approaching (Due October 7th, that's ONLY approximately 23 work days! YIKES!), Chelsea and I have a goal to complete the entire YEAR'S worth of screenings for the whole corporation before I leave.

We would like to begin screening students in K, 3, and 5 who wear glasses as early as this Monday (We only run the 1st graders through the SpotVision screener just as an extra bonus).

If you could please just grab a lunch list, write my name at the top, and mark those students who already have glasses. If they tell you their glasses are broken, or lost, or they don't need them anymore, just make a note so we can tag them appropriately, and we will run them through just to be sure. If the student wears glasses even just for reading/just for far away etc, mark them as having glasses so we can screen them while wearing those glasses to ensure the prescription is still the right one for them. You can send your lists in the office envelopes and the kind ladies in the office will get them to me.

The sooner I can get your lists, the sooner I can make sure that all your students can see and get us all on the right track for a productive school year!

ALSO: ANY STUDENT IN ANY GRADE who does NOT currently wear glasses can be screened by the SpotVision screener if you are concerned about their vision. Please email me the names of any students you feel would benefit from an eye exam with this technology. If they already wear glasses but you are still concerned about their vision, I can screen them while wearing their current glasses to ensure their prescription is accurate.

Thank you for your help!
