Weekly Update From Mr. Killingbeck
This is the 26th week of the school year, and due to many of our staff receiving their 2nd dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, we had remote asynchronous learning last Friday and this Monday, and Tuesday.
From the feedback, it appears that many of you understand the difficulties we encounter with limited substitutes available in every position that led to this decision and appreciated the opportunity to plan verse the potential last-minute disruption of services.
It continues to be exciting to report that we have not had any new school-related cases of COVID-19 or school-related quarantines since our return to school after the holiday break. Click here to review our COVID-19 Dashboard with data updates in real-time. This link brings pertinent information together into one easy-to-access place.
In other matters, we, along with law enforcement, continue to investigate allegations made against a middle school teacher. At this time, the teacher in question has been removed from the district's website, not permitted to be on campus or have contact with the school community (students, parents, and staff), and has been placed on non-disciplinary paid leave while the investigation is ongoing.
As you look ahead at the calendar for March, we only have one remote learning day that remains for the month, which is Friday, March 26th. That day will be asynchronous learning as well to provide everyone flexibility as we head into spring break.
I have been able to talk with many members of our school community, I want to thank you so much for your continued support of our Hemlock Huskie Pack and all the continued positive energy for our school system. The Hemlock Public School District's mission and vision are to innovate, collaborate, and educate our community of learners.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know.
All the best,
Don
