Election Time

Early voting runs through May 3 and in honor of the freedom to vote, GCISD parents and staff are encouraged to wear red, white and blue jeans on Monday, May 2. Send us your "I Voted" photos at communication.services@gcisd.net and you may be featured on the district's Facebook page.

Tuesday, May 3 is the last day for early voting, and I hope that you plan to exercise your constitutional right and make your voice heard. I know I have. Throughout early voting, you may vote at any location in Tarrant County found at http://gcisdbond2016.com/assets/sched_16_may_.pdf; however after early voting ends you may only vote at your designated precinct. I would encourage you to vote early, as you never know what may come up to disrupt your plans to vote on May 7. The right to vote is one that is a privilege that too many people tend to ignore on a local, state and national level. Please make your voice heard by voting in the 2016 GCISD Bond Election. If you have any questions about the proposal, or for more information, please visit www.gcisdbond2016.com.

Planning for 2016-2017

2016-2017 Enrollment

Hard to believe that it is already to start planning for next school year! This year has flown by as the days have been packed with growth, learning, and fun! As we as a campus begin planning for next year, please take a moment to complete the following Google form if you have a kindergarten through fourth grade student: 2016-2017 Enrollment (http://goo.gl/forms/wx8N698I6q)

Student Information Sheets

In the coming weeks, we will begin to develop our class lists for next school year. In creating these lists we take into account district guidelines and keep in mind the need to create a balanced classroom for our students. This process involves multiple variables. Below you will find some of the variables we will consider as we develop class lists for the 2016- 2017 school year:

· Gender balance

· Academic mix

· Personality and learning styles

· Peer relationships

· Class size

· Special needs

The objective is to place all students with a teacher in a balanced class that will support individual learning and growth. At Bransford, we are very fortunate to have an exceptional group of teachers and staff to work with our students and families.

Families have the optional opportunity to fill out a student class information form (http://goo.gl/forms/dDmIkVFsdR). This form will not be used for requesting a teacher, but will give you a chance to share valuable information about your child. There will also be a spot for your child to share. We will not be honoring specific teacher requests. The form will be available on line to families April 24 - May 6. Please complete the forms online with your student.

Final class lists will be posted at meet the teacher night August 18.

Cafeteria Charges

No charging will be allowed starting May 9th. Students must have a positive balance in order to purchase items in the school cafeteria. Any student without a positive balance will receive an alternative meal at lunch. Please visit myschoolbucks.com to monitor account balances and set up low-balance email alerts. We appreciate your prompt attention in maintaining a positive meal balance. Additional information may also be found on the districts website www.gcisd-k12.org and Child Nutrition Facebook page.

HB 5 Survey

Dear Bransford Parents,

In 2013, the Texas Legislature passed House Bill 5 (HB 5), which made significant changes to curriculum and graduation requirements, as well as, the assessment program and accountability system. In addition to the new graduation requirements, HB 5 also includes a requirement for school districts to conduct a community or parent engagement survey and report results to the Texas Education Agency (TEA). The information collected in this survey will help us highlight areas of excellence, as well as recognize areas of growth as we strive to Build Excellent Schools Together.

The survey link included in this message may be used multiple times in the instance that you have students on different campuses and will be active from April 11 through May 6, 2016. Once you click on the link, you may select if you would like to complete the survey in English or Spanish.

Click here to take the HB 5 survey:

I want to thank you for your participation in this survey and your continued support of Bransford and GCISD.
