BES Principal Newsletter
April 28, 2023
Good evening BES families,
I want to take this opportunity to share our 22-23 Parent Perception Survey results with our families.
According to our families, the top three strengths are as follows:
I support my child’s learning at home.
I feel good about myself as a parent.
I respect the school’s teachers.
The top three challenges are as follows:
The students do not show respect for each other.
The school does not have a good public image.
There is not adequate supervision before and after school.
Despite these items being identified as a challenge, our trends show we are improving overall in these areas. Our MTSS committee and BES staff is working on revamping our SOARing Eagles expectations and setting aside time for our School Social Worker to visit classrooms every week to work on social and emotional skills for all grade levels. Our district is making moves to help improve our public image as well as improve our elementary front. Our gym roof is being replaced as well as all installing all new concrete sidewalks and pavers along Maple Street. We are working on replacing all gutters along our north wing as well as installing all new exterior lights around our school. Our BES staff is looking into ways to provide additional supervision before and after school and plan to survey our families about this area directly in the near future. Thank you for taking the time to help us make adjustments and celebrate our strengths. The BES team will continue to work to provide our students with every opportunity to succeed now and in the future!
A huge thank you to everyone who attended our Darlin Dance last Friday. It was a huge success with over 400 attendees! We raised over $5000 for our BES library and over $4000 for our fifth grade fund to send our fifth graders to special end-of-elementary events for the future. A big thank you to Miss Criscenti and Ms. Laurin for organizing the dance and recruiting volunteers who helped with the baskets, setting up decorations, tear down and everything in between! We couldn't have done it without the support of the community!
Below are documents from Mrs. Howard, our school nurse; Kids Kamp (see Ms. Laurin for more information); and the health department regarding vision and hearing screenings next week at BES. Have a phenomenal weekend!
Educationally Yours,
Mrs. Johnson
Isabella is one our first Adopt-A-Book sponsors and she chose "Full Moon Pups" as her donation!
Our community is showing up BIG! We've had 6 books added from community sponsors like the Byron Chamber of Commerce!
A big thank you to Gabby for her sponsorship of "Harriet Spies"
