Deep in the Heart of Fulshear
Howdy Hounds!
It was a very successful week two at Huggins! We have enjoyed getting to know our hounds and jumping into our curriculum for the year!
Thank you to everyone that ordered our 21-22 spirit shirt and a house color shirt! We raised over $1,200 that will go into a fund to support student incentives for PBIS and fun activities for our House Pep Rallies. If your child was not here at our last pep rally, they will have a chance to draw for a house color on Tuesday, September 7th during morning announcement. We have opened an additional shop if you would still like to purchase a spirit shirt or house color shirt for your child. Please see the PDF file below for a live link to the shop.
Please remember that we have started opening our doors at 6:45am to assist with the morning car rider line and to ensure we can get our students into the building by 7:30. Please note that starting Tuesday, we will begin counting tardies. It is the expectation that all students are in the building by the start of the school day, which is 7:30am. Please note that breakfast is served between 7:00am-7:30am. If your child will be eating breakfast at school, we ask that you drop them off by 7:15 so that they have ample time to eat before heading to class.
The end of the school day is a very busy time in the front office. If you know you will be changing your child's transportation, please consider calling as early in the day as possible as we tend to get an influx of transportation changes right before 2:00. This can make it difficult to ensure they are documented and communicated to teachers before we start dismissal.
While we understand that there are times families might have a scheduled appointment at the end of the school day, we ask families to minimize the number of times they are checking their children out of school, particularly at the end of the day to avoid the car line. Please note that parents will not be permitted to check their children out of school after 2:00pm each day as we are preparing for dismissal in the office and need our clerks finalizing transportation changes. Please remember that when you check your child out early, they are missing vital classroom instruction. Leaving early negatively impacts their learning and could affect grades on assignments that are taken during that time. We do not want our hounds getting behind. Thank you for your cooperation with this!
Remember that there is no school Monday in observation of Labor Day. We hope everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday weekend!
Sincerely,
Bethany Cunningham
Principal

Lamar CISD uses Character Counts as a piece of our social-emotional curriculum for all students. Character Counts focuses on learning 6 core values to prepare every student to succeed in school; live happy, worthy, and fulfilling personal lives; and become engaged, responsible, and productive citizens. During the month of September, I will visit every classroom to kick-off our Character Counts guidance program. September is all about learning to be more TRUSTWORTHY. Please discuss at home what it means to be TRUSTWORTHY and ways for your child to grow in this area.
Think “true blue“ • Be honest • Don’t deceive, cheat or steal • Be reliable — do what you say you’ll do • Have the courage to do the right thing • Build a good reputation • Be loyal— stand by your family, friends, and country
As always, if you have concerns about your child, don’t hesitate to reach out to me via phone or email so I can best meet the needs of your child.
Remember, your Character Counts!

School Meals...
Lamar CISD has announced its participation in the Seamless Summer Option for the 2021-2022 school year, offering healthy meals every school day to all students at no cost.
Typically, a student’s household must meet income eligibility requirements to qualify for free or reduced-price meals. However, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued guidance that allows schools to offer meals to all students at no cost for the 2021-2022 school year.
While no application or eligibility determination is required for our students to receive free meals this school year, income eligibility requirements will likely resume in the 2022-2023 school year.
Extra lunch entrees and a la carte items are not included with the no cost meals.
