What's new at ÉPK?
Week of December 3 to 7, 2018
First Sunday of Advent
Almighty God, give us grace that we may cast away the works of darkness,
and put upon us the armor of light,
now in the time of this mortal life in which thy Son Jesus Christ came to visit us in great humility;
that in the last day,
when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge both the quick and the dead,
we may rise to the life immortal;
through him who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, now and for ever.
Amen

My kid is not talking to me…. What do I do?!?!
This article is a great normalizing acknowledgment that talking to your child may be difficult. But as a parent, you are wanting to connect but none of your questions seems to revoke a response. That is tough and most times, disheartening. This article offers you, as a parent/caregiver, some ideas around what is going on for your child through a developmental lens and therefore offering a way to break that wall and start a conversation. https://www.todaysparent.com/family/age-by-age-guide-to-getting-your-kid-to-talk/ Remember: 1) Take it slow 2) Don’t take it personally if they are nonresponsive- sometimes your kiddo has a lot on his mind. 3) Try to listen more, versus offering the solution. Solutions tend to come off judgmental 4) This takes time, so practice and be patient.
And if you are having some difficulties, remember you are not alone. Please feel free to reach out to your school's FWW, Simone Moniz, as she would be glad to help.
