Sept. 29 - Frost Family Benefit
On September 29, 2022, a fundraising benefit will be held at the New York Mills High School for the Frost family who recently experienced the sudden passing of their wife and mother.
On June 10, 2022, Tracy Frost tragically passed away at the age of 47 in an auto crash. She leaves behind her loving husband Chris, and four amazing and bright children, Herimann (17), Elliot (16), Francis (8), and Oliver (7). Chris is now left to raise their family alone which comes with many challenges. Due to the special needs of his two younger boys, Chris may not be able to work full time, and needs assistance with bills, transportation, activities for the boys, medical and therapy expenses, and other necessary costs. This event will help raise the funds necessary to cover the loss of Tracy's income and help Chris and his boys get through this tragic time without having to worry about finances.
The dinner and silent auction will run from 4pm - 8pm in the high school commons. If you would like to donate to this event, either through a monetary donation, or with a silent auction item, please call Carmen at 218-849-4650 or Christi at 218-298-4697. Any type of donation, large or small, would be so appreciated!
Committee Members: Colleen Frost, Carmen Arvig, Cheryl Stoll, Blaine Novak, Amy Boll, Maria Theisen, and Christi Stoll

Notice: School Meal Changes Coming in 2022-23 School Year
All New York Mills School District families are encouraged to take a few minutes to fill out the free/reduced lunch application forms for our school district. Not only will qualifying for free or reduced meals benefit many of our families, but the district will also receive more compensatory funding if our free and reduced population increases. Plus, this same percentage determines our district enrollment number for the Minnesota State High School League.
Forms that are submitted are kept strictly confidential. The application is available in the District Office and on our website. Follow this link for the NYM District Application: https://content.myconnectsuite.com/api/documents/35a824e4c64e48088863b4fa3d7dad9d
If you would like to review the guidelines, you can see them on the online calculator:
https://reports.educateiowa.gov/ICAVES/Home/Calculator
If you don’t initially qualify, you can re-apply if your family circumstances change throughout the school year.

E-Learning Snow Days
e-Learning days may be implemented during the 2022-2023 school year if we
experience inclement weather days beyond our snow make up days. The state of
Minnesota allows for districts to use up to five e-Learning Days per school year. The
New York Mills School Board approved the use of e-Learning days, in the event that
we have more inclement weather days than we have make up days scheduled in the
district calendar. Below are the key highlights to be aware of when an e-Learning day
goes into effect. Please review the details listed below:
About e-Learning Days:
- In New York Mills, e-Learning Days will be implemented only after all snow make up
days are used in the 2022 – 2023 school calendar. These e-Learning Days can negate
the need for makeup school days at end of the school year, helping families
accordingly.
- An e-Learning Day is a day where a school offers full access to online instruction
provided by students’ individual teachers due to inclement weather. 120A.414
- e-Learning Days allow students to work from home, avoiding potentially dangerous
commutes.
- e-Learning Days are intended to counter the loss of curriculum momentum resulting
from school cancellations due to Minnesota’s winter weather.
- Students are expected to participate in e-Learning activities for all scheduled classes
on the day the plan is used. Students who do not participate in planned activities are
considered absent for the classes unless prior arrangements have been established.
