A message from the principal

Dear Parents,

I am so pleased to announce our new staff members that will be joining the faculty in the fall. (We are adding classes, have a new job share and Mrs. McGinnis is moving into a district level role as reading coach). Our field of candidates was amazing, so we were able to find some wonderful people!

Mike Zakowski: Currently teaching kindergarten at Lea Hill in Auburn, he's taught third grade for quite a few years in Covington and Phoenix. He worked with Amy Hurt in Covington! He has an MA in education from Eastern Washington University. He and his family recently purchased a home on the south end of the lake. He will be teaching third grade.

Jessica Harmon: is currently a third grade teacher in the Clover Park School District. She has a BA in Writing from UWT and an MA in education from UWT. She serves on the climate committee at her current school. She and her family live locally. She will be teaching third grade.

Jordan Gogolin: Has been one of our go to substitutes at LTES. She grew up locally, has an MA degree in Instructional Design (WGU) and a BA in Elementary Education from CWU. She will be teaching third grade.

GeAnn Schmidt: is currently in a resource room classroom at Washington Elementary School in Auburn, GeAnn has a bachelor's degree from Gonzaga and an MA from Grand Canyon University. She is Orton-GIllingham trained. She lives within our school district. She'll be our new Resource Room teacher.

Jennifer Olson: is currently a special education teacher in Eatonville, Jennifer works with EBD (emotionally/behaviorally disabled) students. She will be starting a second self-contained class at LTES. She is a graduate of WWU (BA) and St. Martin's University (MA). She and her family live in Enumclaw.

I want to thank the staff members who spent long hours interviewing many people: Mrs. Wilmer, Mrs. Rogers, Mrs. Kriss, Mrs. Allen, Mrs. McGinnis, Mr. Brown, Miss. Espy, and Mrs. Ford.

I wish you all a happy, safe and sunscreen-filled Memorial Day weekend.

Best,

Paula Bond

P.E. NOTE:

Parents,

With the nice weather we have been enjoying, there has been an uptick of kids wearing crocs and sandals to P.E. In order to maintain a safe environment for physical activity, students must wear tennis shoes to P.E. or they will have to sit out. "Sport Mode" in Crocs does not count.

Thanks for your understanding.
