It is pretty cold out there and very hard to believe that it is the last week of term 2!


Thank you so much for all your support re drop offs and pick-ups during level 2 and beyond, our learners have been very settled as we end our term.


At our whole school hui on Friday we awarded values certificates, Principal's Cup and our Ranginui badges for academic, sporting and service achievements.


Congratulations to the following learners:

Reminder!!!!! This Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 July - Conferences start at 3pm and finish at 6pm. On each of these days, school will finish at 2:30pm so the conferences can start at 3pm.


Please collect your child/ren at 2.30pm if you are able. If not, they will be supervised in the school library until 3pm and must be collected from there. If children normally walk home from school they may leave at 2.30pm if approved by parents (please let their teacher/s know).

Dont forget Thurday 8 July is the last day of term as Friday is a teacher only day.

DRS MESSAGE

A reminder that this Thursday 8th July is a mufti day to raise money for Kristus Raja School in West Papua. Students in this school have been away from school due to the pandemic. The money we raise will help them repair their toilets and bathrooms and to get new

chairs, desks and resources for when the students are able to return to school.

PSL SPECIAL QUIZ NIGHT MEETING TONIGHT SFDS STAFF ROOM 7.30PM

PSL DISCO!

Now we are back to level 1 we have a new date for the postponed Disco.

The new date is THURSDAY 5 AUGUST - Tickets already purchased are still valid for this new date. Disco tickets have been re-opened on Kindo- If you haven't already purchased a ticket get in quick.

SAUSAGE SIZZLE

A huge thank you to those who donated goods to this last week and to Andrew McPhee, Fran Peters and Rachael Setter who came and cooked the sausages. It was another successful sizzle which raised $410! There will be two more sausage sizzles next term - keep an eye out for more information.


OLYMPIC QUIZ

This is our next exciting fundraiser for which the kids will learn answers to questions about the Olympics! They will find sponsors and raise money by collecting money for correct quiz question answers. The school holidays are a great time to find out more about the Olympics, learn the answers to their questions and find sponsors. All the information, including the questions, will be sent home with the kids on Thursday. These will also be emailed to families.

CONGRATULATIONS also to the Year 7/8 Holy Hot Shotz Basketball team who won their grade last week. They played our other Year 7/8 team - The Hoopsters - in a close game. (check out the team below!)


TERM 3 MINIBALL AND BASKETBALL

These will be on offer again next term. Students who are playing this term will need to re-register and pay through Kindo. New players are welcome. The registrations will close on Kindo at 3pm tomorrow - Wednesday 7 July.


ICAS ASSESSMENTS

We will be offering these optional assessments for students in years 5 - 8. If you would like to enrol your child/ren for any of these, please go to https://shop.icasassessments.com/pages/pps

You will need to enter our school code which is ZLD132, then register your child and pay for the assessments you would like them to do. We will NOT be accepting payment through the school. Please be aware, the students do not receive any specific teaching for these assessments, and they are done online at school. Please ensure you register and pay by Friday 23 July (last Friday of the upcoming school holidays), so you don't miss out.

We are super excited to invite you to our Puanga / Matariki celebration at the Island Bay and Berhampore Community Garden on Saturday 10th July from 4:30pm to 7:00pm.


We will have kite making for tamariki, storytelling of the stars, shared kai, waiata and a fire to cast wishes for the year ahead.


To help us work towards being waste free please bring your own cup, plate and utensils.

If you can, please also bring some food to share and koha towards the event. The trustees have borrowed a steamer and will have hangi-style root veges and steamed pudding. We will also have hot chocolate.


Please be aware this event will only go ahead in Covid - 19 alert level 1. It will be cancelled if we are in level 2.


Feel welcomed to bring friends, family, flat mates. The community orchard is located next to Granville Flats on Adelaide road, opposite Wakefield Park.

Paul Forrest is a professional artist, environmentalist and educator based in Wellington. His works can be seen around the grounds of Nga Manu as well as throughout the country. Our drawing classes with Paul are designed for a parent & child or grandparent & grandchild or auntie/uncle & nibling (niece or nephew) - a great way to spend some quality time together these holidays!

PRICE:

$35.00 for one pair, this could be a grandparent and grandchild or parent and child.

For an additional child / grandchild add $15.00.

This fee is inclusive of materials for the drawing lesson and entry to the reserve for the day.
