Safety Update from Mr. Pace
I wanted to take a few minutes and make sure that you all have the emergency bag in a visible and easily accessible location for you and your subs when the needs arises. If you still need any of those items please let me know. Secondly, please make sure you have an updated “Emergency Reference Card” in a very visible location of your classroom. As we move into winter, it is easy to become a little complacent in the areas of safety. If you see a puddle of liquid on the floor please don’t hesitate to let the office know so we can get it mopped up. If there is snow, or ice in a spot we have missed outside somewhere, please let the office know right away so that we can get to it right away. While thinking about safety, please take a few minutes to remember a few items we have touched on in the past, but not recently, we always like to keep them in mind so that we can be safe.
- If you have a window in a classroom door, it can never be covered. If it is, please remove the covering.
- No items can be hung from the ceiling in a classroom or hallway in a school. If you have something hanging from the ceiling in either location, please take it down.
- There should be no items in or around the walkways or vestibules on the inside or outside of a doorway. If you have items in those areas, please remove them.
- There should be no microwave ovens in any classrooms. If you have a microwave in a classroom, please remove it as soon as possible.
- There should be nothing stored on the top of cabinets or closets in classrooms of offices which are within 20” of the ceiling. If you have items stored or hung within 20” of the ceiling please remove them.
As the winter creeps in, we just want to make sure we are doing our best to be safe for kids and all staff all of the time. If you have questions about what might stay or go, please don’t hesitate to ask at any time. al
