Linn Elementary School 12/2/15
So Much to be Thankful for....
This time of year causes us all to stop and reflect our blessings. We have so much to be thankful for at Linn Elementary---
- Our wonderful students, who are learning more and more each day.
- Our outstanding staff, who are working to engage our students each day in fun and stimulating activities.
- Our supportive Linn Elementary families, who send us their best children each day and work with us to make a positive learning environment.
- Our caring Linn community, who have helped pass our bond issue which is going to enable us to have a new elementary school very soon!

Teacher Spotlight - Ms. Beth Parrish
Tell me about your family-
I have been from one end of the state to another and landed right in the middle for now. I was born in St. Louis and then moved to the Kansas City area when I was four. When my parents retired in the Jefferson City area, I decided it would be a great place to live too.
I am one of six kids and my parents loved the letter B (I guess) as our names are: Bruce, Brenda, Brian, Beth, Brad, and Beverly.
I have one daughter Jill, who is married to Tyler Rikard. They have one daughter, Chloe, and another child on the way.
Tell me about your education and experience?
I graduated from Blue Springs High School. I received my elementary degree from Central Missouri State University (as it was called when I graduated) and received my master’s in education from William Woods University. I taught at Pleasant Hill for 9 years. Mary’s Home for 1 year and this is my 20th year at Linn Elementary.
What did you want to be when you were little?
When I was little, I always wanted to be a teacher. I played school and would ‘teach’ my siblings, friends, and even stuffed animals. I volunteered as a Sunday school teacher, babysat neighborhood children, and helped many of my teachers organize and prepare their classrooms. All of these turned out to be steps to my future.
What are you good at doing?
I am good at being a good friend. I like to listen and talk with my friends, and I especially love to laugh and have fun with them. I have friends from the different places that I have lived and worked, and I love keeping in touch with them.
What makes you happy?
Christmas music make me happy. I love listening to it while I decorate or bake cookies.
What is your favorite thing to do?
I love spending time with my family and especially my granddaughter, Chloe. I love playing with her and watching her learn.
What is a favorite Linn Elementary memory?
I have really enjoyed watching the students grow as readers and learners throughout the years. I have enjoyed the first days of school, Christmas concerts, assemblies, and many other fun times. However, none of them compare to the 6th grade field trip where we got lost in Forest Park. What a fun day that was! We rode the Amtrak train to St. Louis, then we boarded the Metro Link to head toward the Science Museum. We got off at the wrong stop and headed off on our own adventure through mud and road construction. I still laugh a little about that day.
