Dear Sabre Grad families,

We are 34 days away from celebrating the Graduating Class of 2023! We are looking foward to our Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Edmonton Expo Centre. Here are the important details you need to know.

Monday, May 1:

• Grad Parent In-Person Meeting at 6:00 p.m. at Salisbury's Cafeteria. This meeting will recap the information covered at the Virtual Meeting on April 20, 2023. During this meeting we did call out for parents who are interested in participating in the Grad Parent Video. The video taping will be happening on Friday, May 5. If you are interested, please email Mrs. Clark at erin.clark@eips.ca

Action Item:

• For the Grad Parent Video, we are asking for parents to submit photos of their students growing up. Please send no more than 3 photos. Examples of photos include: primary school photo, vacation, first day of school, and sports related photos to name a few. Please send your submissions to general.sal@eips.ca We will accept photos until May 19. Thank you!

Graduation Tickets:

• Tickets for the Ceremony and Prom go on sale on Monday, May 1, 2023. Tickets for the Ceremony are on sale through Showpass, CLICK HERE to purchase tickets.
• Tickets for the Prom are sold through the PowerSchool Parent Portal, please CLICK HERE to purchase tickets until June 1.

Monday, May 8:

• The Grad List will be posted online, outside the General Office, and in the Wellness Centre hallway.
• Student Grad Meeting at 11:19 a.m. in the Large Gym. The grad assembly, and grad group photo will happen during this meeting.

Thursday, May 11:

• Grad auditions for Emcee positions, and O'Canada singer at lunch in the theatre, starting at 11:30 a.m.

Tuesday, May 23 to Friday, May 26:

• Grad gown pick up in the Wellness Centre Concession during the lunch hour.

Monday, May 29 to Friday, June2 - Grad Week:

We will be celebrating our Graduating Class of 2023 all week leading up to Grad! There will be special food through the week including a Food Truck lunch hour (purchase required). Theme days will be announced soon to the students, please watch social media and the Daily Bulletin for more information. Theme days will include the following:

• Neon
• Beach Day
• Autograph Day (grads wear or bring a solid coloured shirt and sharpie markers and sign each other's shirts)
• Athlete vs Mathlete
• Soccer Moms vs BBQ Dads

Saturday, June 3, 2023:

At Expo Centre:

• 12:00 p.m. Graduates meet in the lower level of the Expo Centre, Hall D
• 12:00 p.m. Doors open for guests to enter Hall D
• 1:00 p.m. The ceremony begins with the graduates marching into the hall
• 3:30 p.m. The ceremony ends

In past years, graduates have met at the Alberta Legislative Grounds to take a group photo on the stairs of the Legislative Building. This is not officially organized by the school.

At Salisbury Composite High School:

• 7:30 p.m. Doors Open (gym entrance) at Salisbury Composite High School for Prom
• 8:00 p.m. Official Prom program begins
• 11:00 p.m. Prom concludes

The Ceremony:

Graduates are able to purchase as many Ceremony tickets as they would like. The graduate does not need a ticket, but anyone attending the Ceremony does. Tickets are $25.00 plus transaction fees.

There will be a charge for parking at the Expo Centre. Ticket kiosks are located inside the Centre. The Expo Centre will be busy so please allow extra time for this step.

It is general seating within the Expo Centre. The venue is large and all seats have a clear view of the stage and viewing screens. Wheelchair accessible seating is available.

Graduates should wear light, breathable clothing under their black grad gowns, and their grad cap.

After the Ceremony, many graduates use the bathroom space at the Expo Centre to change into their formal wear. Once changed, graduates often go to the Legislative Building for photos. These photos are not organized by the school, however, candid photographers may be on site.

The Prom - Fire and Ice:

Graduates are able to purchase as many Prom Tickets as they would like. It is usually just the graduate and their immediate family that attend the Prom. Prom tickets are $25.00, and graduates and their guests all need to purchase tickets.

At the Prom, there will be a video viewing that highlights the Graduating Class of 2023. There will be a special dance to start the night which will be for the graduates and a person that is important to them. We will also have a photo booth set up in the Science Hallway, and other opportunities in our beautifully decorated gym. There will be water available and lots of dancing!
