Canadian British Parliamentary Debate Championships
SEDA will be hosting the 2019 National BP Championships from December 6th to 8th at Walter Murray Collegiate. We are looking for volunteers to help run a quality tournament!
Judging
Your role as a Judge in is incredibly important to ensuring we have a quality tournament. As British Parliamentary style is a more unique and complex style than Nationals Style, we are asking our SEDA alumni and experienced volunteer judges to register to judge for this national event. There is an option on the judge registration form to volunteer on only Friday OR Saturday, rather then both days. On both Friday and Saturday, there will be a judges briefing to help judges sharpen their British Parliamentary judging skills. Once you register, you will receive an event schedule closer to the championships date.
Moderator, Time Keeper, Ballot Runner.
The moderator is the person who introduces the round of debate, records speaking times of each debater for the judges, and runs ballots and important papers for the hosting staff. The moderator’s role in a tournament is very important because it helps facilitate the debate rounds and assists the judges, tournament hosts, and debaters. The moderator will also serve as the time keeper for the round and the ballot runner unless we have enough volunteers who can share and divide the responsibilities.
SEDA is inviting all of our debaters, grades seven and up, to consider volunteering at this national event. You do not have to be a current SEDA debater to hold this position though! If you are an adult who does not have experience judging BP style, SEDA would absolutely appreciate your help in the moderator roles!

Other Volunteer Roles
A national event of this scale has a lot of moving pieces and requires energetic passionate volunteers! We need people helping coordinate and serving the meals to the debaters, judges, moderators and other volunteers and assistance in extending Saskatchewan hospitality. These roles would best suit a high school debater, or the parent or coach of a debater.
