A Message from Principal Boucher
SLPHS Families,
We are working to provide every opportunity for students to demonstrate learning prior to the last day of school next Thursday, June 10. We are focused on students experiencing academic success and appreciate your ongoing partnership to help keep students focused through the end of the school year.
A few reminders and updates:
- Reminder – Schedule change next week: The last week of the school year, June 7–10, we will operate on our typical 6-period day schedule beginning with SET each morning (8:10-8:40 a.m.) Monday-Thursday. There will NOT be afternoon release time on Wednesday, June 9. We want to provide the SET time each day during the last week to ensure each student has every chance to be academically successful and to demonstrate their learning.
- Report cards: We will mail home full year report cards to families the week of June 21.
- Material return – for Extended Flexible Learning students: Students learning from home are asked to return any school/class materials or resources they received this year (such as, books, art equipment, other learning materials) to the SLPHS main office on Thursday, June 10 or Friday, June 11, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
- iPads: Students in grades 9-11 may keep their iPads at home this summer and return to school with them in the fall. Any students who are not returning to SLPHS next year will need to turn in their iPads and all school/class materials. Seniors will turn in their iPads Thursday, June 10 during graduation rehearsal.
Thank you again for your continued support as we make brighter futures together.

Outstanding School Fees: How to pay through Campus Parent Portal
As we wrap up the 2020-2021 school year, we encourage families to pay any outstanding fees they may have acquired throughout the school year. Fees could range from technology and iPad insurance to library books and music fees
To check if your family has any outstanding fees and to pay for the fees, login to Campus Parent Portal and click on "Fees" located in the left-hand black column. We are asking for families to pay these fees by June 30, 2021.

App offers free summer meals to Minnesota kids
Hunger Impact Partners, a non-profit organization with the Minnesota Department of Education that promotes free healthy summer meals for kids across the state, is encouraging students and families to download the Summer Eats Minnesota mobile app.
Here’s how it works:
- Download the free Summer Eats Minnesota app to your cell phone
- Use the mobile app to find the nearest site providing meals and meal packs by GPS
- Click on the nearby site and use the Meals Updates tab for more details
- Kids up to age 18 just show up and eat with no registration required
There are free meal sites across the state at schools, bus stops, libraries, community centers and parks. The app provides location, directions to the site and hours and days of distribution. More sites are added daily. For more information, visit the Hunger Impact Partners website.
SLPHS student named National Cybersecurity Scholarship Scholar
Congrats to Spring Lake Park High School senior, Omar Salem, who has been named a National Cybersecurity Scholarship Scholar – a top-tier winner of the National Cyber Scholarship Competition! He was one of 5,000 students to qualify for the competition from a pool of 50,000 peers through a rigorous 48-hour online competition. Omar is one of only 800 high school students nationwide to be ranked as a finalist and win further training and scholarship opportunities in cybersecurity. #SLPPantherProud
“I am very proud to be named a Scholar in the National Cyber Scholarship Competition,” said Omar. “The competition was steep and the puzzles and challenges were really difficult. I am thrilled to be invited to the Cyber Foundations Academy to continue my cybersecurity education.”
2020 Oasis Yearbook earns two awards
Shout out to the SLPHS Yearbook staff for earning two awards for the 2020 Oasis Yearbook. It earned the first-place award from the American Scholastic Press Association for the 2020 Oasis Yearbook - "Begin... Again." The second is a Distinguished Honorable Mention in Balfour's national "Yearbook, Yearbook," which honors outstanding books each year through their company.
The 2020 yearbook staff was made up of in-class and club members who were focused on raising the bar and took past feedback from the last two years to improve the quality of the 2020 book. Through challenges both in personal lives and through a pandemic, the group put out the best book they possibly could, and their hard work paid off!
