Delcastle Technical High School
50 Years Of Preparing Students To Be Career & College Ready
Back to School Principal Letter
Dear Delcastle Families,
Today is a great day to be a Cougar! On behalf of the Delcastle staff, I want to officially welcome all of you to the 2018-2019 school year! We will be celebrating our 50th anniversary this year. For the past 50 years, we have been building the state, and now the global, workforce. Prior to the start of the school year, we will be deploying Chromebooks (computers) to all of our students through the 1:1 initiative. It is imperative that parents/guardians complete all of the paperwork for this process. All information including the required paperwork can be found on the school website (delcastleths.com). Please check the website regularly for updated information regarding this initiative and others. Also, be sure to download the Delcastle School Info App.
We are looking forward to partnering with you to ensure that our students achieve at a very high level. We are committed to your student’s success. With a collaborative effort from parents/guardians, the school community, and business partnerships our students will be able to achieve the post-secondary aspirations.
This newsletter will provide you with some of our summer highlights, important information, and various changes. Again, welcome to Delcastle and here’s to a fabulous school year.
Delcastle Wins Superstars in Education Award
Over the last 25 years, the Delaware Chamber of Commerce has recognized excellence in science teaching, integrated classroom technology, and school-to-career partnerships. On Monday, May 14, the Delcastle STEP Program was added to this prestigious list by receiving the 2018 Super Stars in Education Award. We are proud to say for the past five years 100% of our students are gainfully employed and maintain their employment after they complete our entire program. Congratulations to the STEP instructors, paras, students, 18-21 Program staff, business partners, and all those who support the STEP Program.
National Competitions
Over the summer, 17 students represented Delcastle as part of Team Delaware at the National SkillsUSA Leadership Conference in Louisville, Kentucky. There, our students competed against nearly 6,000 students from around the country. All of the students did an outstanding job representing Delcastle and the great state of Delaware. Congratulations to each of the students who participated and their career area instructors. I am most proud to report that 7 out of 17 students were top 10 national finalists with one student winning third place for National SkillsUSA 2018!!!
In addition, students traveled to Dallas, Texas to attend the National Business Professionals of America (BPA) competitions. Congratulations to the Business Tech students for winning two gold and two silver medals at National BPA 2018.
Each student spent hours preparing to compete on the state and national levels. Their success is a reflection of their hard work and quality teacher instruction. Congratulations to each student and their instructors!
