Mrs. Greene's 3rd Grade
May 10, 2019
A GREAT Week!
Thank you so much for the wonderful notes and treats this week for Teacher Appreciation Week. Your thoughtfulness is so appreciated!!
14 students out of 20 in Room 9 chose to participate in the Greatest Spectacle in Reading Challenge. I look forward to hearing about the enthusiasm for the extra reading happening at home.
We had a great time on our field trip to the Palladium today. The weather chilly, but no rain was great! We took our kindness rocks and spread them along The Monon Trail. We ended our time enjoying ice cream at Bub's.
That's all I have for now...
Enjoy your weekend!

The Palladium Field Trip
Room 9 Celebrations
A few student highlights from our week:
- It brings me so much joy to watch students being genuinely happy for other students. I complimented a student about something amazing she did. As I complimented the student, Taylor's eyes got really big, a smile grew on her face, and she clapped for the student. It was sweet. I just wish I could remember what the compliment for the student was to mention here.
- Landon's ACTIVE LISTENING has become "over the top" amazing.
- Nick has improved his testing stamina so much since the beginning of the year!
- Jayden stuck up for a friend who he felt was being mistreated.
THERE ARE SO MANY MORE...stay tuned for more next week!
Here is What is Planned for May 13-17
Reading: Research Clubs
The students are working in their Research Clubs planning and preparing their projects. Be sure to ask your child all about it.
Writing: Fairy Tales
I have checked every students' Fairy Tale before publishing using Buncee. We revised and edited their work. Once students are finished, I will grade their piece using a 3rd Grade Rubric. I also use the published piece for report card data. Writing is a tricky thing to assess, but I spend a lot of time analyzing and assessing each piece to observe growth and areas that still need "tweaking" these last few weeks of school.
Science: Simple Machines
- Wheel and Axle
- Lever
- Pulley
Math: Unit 8
We started the Unit 8 assessment today. We will continue on Monday with the cumulative test. That will take us into our last unit of study - Unit 9 which covers multi-digit operations.
