A WORD FROM YOUR DEAN MRS. SILVERIO
Parenting Tip of the Week
Self-Awareness
After we identify and acknowledge our child's unmet needs, we should take a look inward and ask the following questions. Knowing that self-awareness is a great place to begin change.
I get triggered when (describe the situation):
My child or teen "should" (what do you believe they should be able to do or how they should behave)
When I was a kid (what would have happened if you behaved this same way when you were young):
If my child or teen continues to...
I worry that in the future this means they will...
This scares me because what I really want for them is...
After we identify our child and our own needs, we can then work together to set conditions that help us decide when to Grit (stick with it) or Quit (leave it behind). Check out this example from GoZen to help guide your own conversations.
