Principal's Message

Happy Friday Bobcat Families!

Thank you for another great week of teaching and learning!

Please note that Friday, October 7th will be my last day in the office until 2023. I will step away until January to deliver and bond with my new child. Mrs. Tiffany Ligon, current Assistant Principal, will serve as interim Principal until my return. Please show her all the grace and support you've shown me in my time at AC Moore.

While I am excited for this new chapter in my personal life, I am sad to step away from my Bobcat Family even if just for a short while. I am SO proud of the work our staff and students have been doing so far this year and I know our Academic Leadership Team will continue to lead and support everyone in the right direction. Please continue to support our staff and students as we continue to embrace an all hands on deck mantra this year. You're all amazing!

News For the Week

We encourage all parents/guardians to join us Monday, October 10th at 6pm in the library for the October PTO meeting.

Letters will come home soon for parents of 2nd graders regarding the IOWA and coGAT state assessments that will be administered in the coming weeks.

Wednesday is National Walk To School Day and we are looking forward to this event planned by Mrs. Whetstone and our Wellness Committee.

Reminder that Friday, October 14th is a Teacher Work Day and there will be no school for students.

Please be on the lookout for contact from your child's teacher to schedule a parent-teacher conference on or before October 24th.

See you when I return Bobcats!!

Important Carline Pick-up and Drop-off Reminders

In an effort to keep the carline safe for students and staff, it is requested that the following carline procedures be followed during the morning and afternoon carline.

    • Please pull as far forward to the end of the carline (towards Rosewood Dr.) before stopping your vehicle to allow your student to enter/exit through the gate; do not stop at the main entrance to let students out of or into the car.

    • Students are to get out on the passenger side of the carline only, not from the driver side, side facing the road.

    • Parents should remain in the car and allow school staff to assist the students into or out of cars.

    ---------------------------------

    Assignments for COVID Related Absences

For the 22-23 school year, students that are absent due to illness will receive any missed and/or make-up assignments upon return to school. They will have 5 days to return the completed work to their teacher. This is in accordance with AC Moore's typical absence policy. Devices and extended absence assignments will not be sent home this year. Virtual check-in sessions with students will also not occur. Those practices and procedures were in place as a result of Richland One's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A.C. Moore Celebrates Hispanic Awareness Month

Ideas For Ways To Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month: Support local panaderías (Mexican bakeries) or Latinx restaurants

    Source

In Latinx and Hispanic cultures, food could be considered a core love language. From our morning pan dulce con cafe (sweet bread with coffee) to Spanish tapas to savory empanadas, food is the magnetic field that brings people together.

Supporting your local Latinx bakeries or restaurants is a crucial way to show your appreciation and support for their labor of love. Want to take it a step further? Ask them if they offer gift cards so you can gift your family or friends a delicious experience too!

Check out these panaderias and Latinx restaurants in the Columbia area:
