The Salt March Leaves Bitter Taste British Empire
In early April Gandhi gathered 78 of his followers and started marching towards the shore. On his trip he stopped by villages and talked to the people of the villages and encouraged them to not buy salt from the British. By the time he reached the beach his 78 followers became thousands of followers. Then he picked up a handful of sand and said "With this I am shaking the foundation of the British Empire". He then continued to mix the sand with sea water and boiled it and created salt. He was then arrested on May 5th without trial, and was not released until January.
