Update on the past few weeks.
We finished the Early Cold War Unit
We took our last test on Friday, April 22, which covered the early stages of the Cold War. The students did a really good job and the test scores are in Canvas.
Vietnam and the end of the Cold War
This past week we dug into the war in Vietnam with a map on Monday (5/2), a timeline of US involvement in Vietnam (5/3), the Tonkin Gulf incident and Resolution (5/4), and we finished up this week by researching and presenting our findings about the American service member's experience in Vietnam. The class was assigned homework which cover's 1968, the Tet Offensive, and the media's role in the war. There are two videos and a set of questions posted in Canvas. Students are to watch the videos and answer the questions. The assignment is due Tuesday, May 10.
During the week of May 9 we will learn about President Nixon's foreign policy and how he brought the U.S.'s involvement in Vietnam to an end; and how President Reagan brought the Cold War to an end. We will finish up the week with our next test on Friday, May 13 covering Vietnam and the end of the Cold War.
Soldier's Experience During Vietnam
The Civil Rights Movement and the End of the Year.
We will finish off the school year with a current event project (group or individual) that will require several days of research and presenting.
June 17 will be here before we know it!
