PCSC Assessments
2014-2015 ISTEP assessments will begin this week. The Indiana Department of Education recently reduced several of the tests that were initially scheduled to be given this year. As a result, time spent taking the ISTEP will be about the same amount of time as last school year.
Students attending PCSC encounter assessments as part of their daily routine. Teachers utilize a variety of assessments to learn where individual students are on their personal learning journey. Most students are very comfortable with the tests that are given throughout the school year. They understand that teachers use the information to alter lessons to better help them learn.
Assistant Superintendent Dr. Mary Giesting says, "PCSC students have been properly instructed and are ready for the new ISTEP tests." This includes knowing that the tests will look a bit different since they are assessing different standards than those from last year. Dr. Giesting encourages parents to guide their children to get plenty of rest and a nutritional breakfast each day this week.
