Call to Order - Dr. Darlene Davis, Board President, called the meeting to order at 7:03 PM.

President's Welcome - Dr. Darlene Davis welcomed everyone to the meeting.

Community Input - The first period of community input is for agenda items only. The following topics were addressed during community input:

  • Cardinal Academy
  • Hybrid schedule
  • Health and safety during the pandemic
  • Vaccinations for teachers
  • Returning to in-person instruction
  • Transportation facility
  • D'Huy engineering
  • Referendum for high school construction

Minutes - The following minutes were included in the agenda:

  • The Board approved the minutes from the December 21, 2020, Legislative meeting.
  • The Board reviewed the minutes from the December 2020 Committee meetings.

Education Committee/Curriculum Recommendations - The Board reviewed the following:

  • January 2021 Enrollment Report

Finance Committee Recommendations - The Board approved the following:

  • Acceptance of SY 2019-2020 Audit Report
  • Budget for the Eastern Center for Arts and Technology for SY 21-22
  • Routine Matters - Payments of bills and monthly financial reports
  • Budget transfers

Please note that the Board did not take action on the feasibility study for the proposed transportation facility.

Personnel Report/Recommendations - The Board approved the following:

  • Personnel Report inclusive of appointments, resignations, retirements, terminations, leaves of absence, changes of status, mentor appointments, and extra-curricular assignments

Policy Committee Recommendations - The Board affirmed the following first readings of policies:

  • 318 Attendance and Tardiness
  • 331 Job-Related Expenses
  • 332 Working Periods
  • 334 Sick Leave
  • 340 Responsibility for Student Welfare

Liaison Committee Reports - The Board reviewed the following informational reports:

  • Montgomery County Intermediate Unit - Darlene Davis
  • Montgomery County Legislative Committee - Amy Francek
  • EASTERN Center for Arts & Technology - Art Levinowitz
  • Equity and Empowerment Steering Committee - Jennifer Iannitti
  • Educational Advisory Committee - Titia Scherpbier
  • Pennsylvania School Boards Association - Michael Henderson
  • Township - Mark Sirota and Stanley Ropski

Solicitor's Report

  • Mr. Diasio reported that the Board met in Executive Session prior to the meeting to discuss personnel matters, confidential student matters, and litigation. He also thanked the Board for their service in recognition of School Board Recognition Month.

Community Input - The following topics were addressed during the second community input:

  • Transportation Facility
  • Return to in-person learning
  • Vaccinations
  • Cardinal Academy
  • Cyber charter schools
  • Special education testing
  • Mental and physical well-being of students during virtual learning
  • Academics
  • Surveys for return to 5 days in-person learning

Comments from the Board and/or Superintendent - The following topics were addressed in response to community input:

  • Return to in-person learning surveys
  • Touch Base Tuesday will include data from surveys
  • Communications with the Board and Administration
  • Transportation facility
  • Design engineers for the high school project
  • Community input during public meetings
  • Hybrid model comparison to other districts in Montgomery County

  • Education Committee - Wednesday, February 3, 2021, 6:00 PM

  • Policy Committee - Wednesday, February 3, 2021, 7:15 PM or immediately following the Education Committee

  • Finance Committee - Wednesday, February 17, 2021, 6:00 PM

  • Legislative Meeting - Monday, February 22, 2021, 7:00 PM
