Parent Teacher Conferences
Conferences will be held virtually this year for Blue Valley West students. Information regarding sign up times for teachers will be sent out in a separate email next Wednesday, Oct. 21st.
***Virtual Education students and families will receive individualized communication/emails from their teachers regarding the process for sign-up times for those courses.
Picture Day is Wednesday, Oct. 21st & Friday, Oct. 23rd 7:45am to 1:00 pm
Pre-pay pictures online at www.rollandkc.com using the school password BVW20. The pre-pay site is only available until the day of picture day. You cannot pre-pay for pictures after their picture day.
Pay in person using a money order, check or cash. Please complete the attached form. A hard copy was also mailed home this week.
In-person students whose last names begin with A-L will have their pictures taken on Wednesday, Oct.21st from 7:45am to 1:00 pm.
In-person students whose last names begin with M-Z will have their pictures taken on Friday, Oct. 23rd 7:45am to 1:00 pm.
Virtual students will receive information at a later date.

Spanish National Honor Society
Applications are now open for students wishing to become a member of the BVWest chapter of the Spanish National Honor Society. In order to be considered an applicant must:
Be currently enrolled in Spanish 3.5, Spanish 4.0, Spanish 4H, or Spanish 5AP
Have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
Submit a digital image of their current GPA from StudentVue
Submit the completed application by the deadline Mon., Oct. 19, 2020 at 3:30pm

National Honor Society Applications
National Honor Society applications are now being accepted. Current Juniors and Seniors interested in applying can find eligibility requirements and the application at http://nhsbvw.weebly.com/2020application.html. All applications are due by 4 p.m. on October 23rd. Returning seniors who were members of the organization last year do not need to reapply and are automatically still members in the organization this year.

Athletics News
The Jaguar girls golf team qualified for the 6A State Golf tournament by finishing 3rd in the regional tournament. Julia Misemer was the three-time 6A regional champion! Good luck to Coach Aaron Anderson and the JAGS at the
tournament in Hesston on Monday and Tuesday.
The JAGS boys soccer team remains unbeaten this season and have only given up five goals. Four of those goals came in games that ended in a tie! The JAGS are 8-0-2 and seven of those wins were shutouts. Post-season play begins the week of Oct 26th but first a huge EKL game next Thursday at West vs EKL and BV rival, BV Southwest.

High School Students Opportunity to Earn College Credits
The College Now program provides high school students the opportunity to earn college credits through concurrent enrollment while completing their high school requirements.Start an application here.
The College Now and Quick Step Plus enrollment deadline has been extended to November 9. The deadline to complete placement testing or to request a placement waiver has been extended to October 30. Due to required social distancing measures in our Testing Center, seating for placement testing will be limited. To ensure enrollment by the deadline, schedule an appointment to complete any required placement testing as early as possible.
Virtual College Rep Visits
Every year admissions representatives from colleges across the country come to Blue Valley West to meet with students and provide information about their institutions. This year these visits will be occurring but they will be held virtually. All college rep visits can be found in Naviance under the colleges tab. At the moment we have 40 visits scheduled and more are added daily. Please sign up in Naviance to attend any session you are interested in.
AP Exam Registration Information
This is a 2 step process if you plan on taking the exam!!
Register for the course and exam through College Board myap.collegeboard.org
Make sure you have your join code from your teacher before trying to register
Everyone enrolled in the course must register for the course in College Board. Teachers use the instructional materials from College Board in their classrooms
Registration for the exam will be marked “yes” for you; if you don’t want to take the exam please change “yes” to “no” or an exam will be ordered for you. Not everyone has to take the exam. If you marked “no” during this step you don’t have to move to step 2
If you marked “yes” you are taking the AP exam in College Board you MUST go to Total Registration to pay for the exam.
Registration Deadline: October 30th
Exam Fees:
$107 per course unless you are taking AP Research or AP Seminar and those exams are $142
Any full year exam registered for or paid for after October 30th will be charged a $40 late fee
