Giesinger Gazette
August 13, 2023
Giesinger Family,
What a great start to our year. It was so good to see our returning and new families.
Thank you for your help by following our arrival and dismissal procedures. Many families were able to use our additional parking at the Church of Christ and it really helped ensure a safe arrival and dismissal for our community, especially our walker community. Please DO NOT park along White Oak Blvd. at any time during arrival and dismissal.
We are proud of the efficient and safe way we dismiss our students. Last week we began a few minutes early to help alleviate traffic flow for the first week. This week, we will begin moving to our dismissal locations at 3:00 and begin dismissing students by 3:10. If your student is a car rider, please be at our school to receive your child by 3:30 pm. There are no available staff to watch students after that time.
Beginning Monday, August 14th, we ask that you send your student to class on their own in the morning. We have our fantastic staff ready to get them to class in the hallways and front office. Thank you for understanding and your support as we fall into our morning routine.
Lunch visitors begin Monday, August 21st. Our students will continue to practice procedures for a safe, inviting lunchroom until that date. We practice common language throughout the year in our common areas, including the lunchroom. Ask your child what N.E.S.T. means.
Thank you for your continued support and we will see you tomorrow.
Sincerely,
Amy Barber
Giesinger Elementary Principal

Safety Drill Week
Just like we practice walking in the halls, washing our hands before lunch, and following our safety rules on the playground, our school practices safety drills to know what to do should an emergency arise. Our students practice monthly fire drills as well as Lockdown, Lockout, Evacuate, and Shelter drills.
The safety and welfare of our students and staff are our highest priority.
Safety & Security
Once registered, visitors must wear a visitors tag that will include the visitor's name, designated date, and purpose of the visit. Badges/tags should be visible at all times to staff and students.
Child Nutrition Information
Giesinger Recess
Students are allowed unlimited water throughout the day. It is best to send your child with a water bottle so they can refill it at our water bottle refill stations to stay well hydrated. Please write your child's name on their water bottle (and any other items) sent to school.
