I hope this newsletter finds you well!
We hope you find some time to relax as a family this week as it is Spring Break! We are asking our teachers, staff and students to take a break from e-learning. We will continue e-learning when we return from spring break.
While there are no formal learning expectations, it's always a good idea to relax with a good book. My two older kids are fully capable readers but still love it when I cuddle up with them on the couch and read to them. They have also decided to pick a question they have and do independent research to learn about their question. They will make an informational video to share their learning. Just another option if kids say they're bored!
I'm sending this out a day early to make sure you are aware of the change in meal schedules. Meals for the rest of the week will only be provided on Monday- so set your alarm and make sure you have what you need for the week.
I have a few spirit days scheduled for some virtual travel over Spring Break. Feel free to check them out and post a video clip on Flipgrid at Flipcode: yclionpride

Patricia Volling
Asistente del Superintendente de Finanzas

Reminders about digital health and wellness
Digital health and wellness is an important parent-child discussion to revisit frequently. The following suggestions are drawn from a variety of professional sources that may help you in guiding your child’s use of technology devices. Set Expectations Regularly share your expectations with your child about accessing only appropriate sites and content. Put iPads to Bed, but Not in the Bedroom The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) suggests parking all technology devices, from cell phones to Chromebooks, in a common family room overnight to discourage late night, unmonitored use and sleep disruption. Monitor & Limit Entertainment Screen Time The AAP recommends limiting recreational/entertainment screen time to one to two hours per day for children over age two. There is no screen time limit for educational content and use. For more tips from the AAP about children and media, review the AAP’s Children and Media – Tips for Parents. Model Appropriate Use Model appropriate use and balance of technology in your own life.
