Campus Expectations
A. E-Cigarettes and Vaping Devices
- The use of e‐cigarettes or vaping devices among young people has become an “epidemic” according to the FDA Commissioner. The industry is not well regulated and the risk of inhaling dangerous or illegal substances in the fluids used is steadily increasing. FISD recognizes these dangers and treats any use or possession of such devices as a serious disciplinary infraction and will result in a 30 day DAEP placement at the Reese Education Center
B. Leaving Campus & Lunch
- All Frenship ISD campuses are closed campuses and no students are allowed to leave during lunch without being signed out by a parent.
- UPDATED POLICY-If your want to sign your student out for lunch, they must bring a note dated for that day to the main or south office before 10 am. The student will be given an Off Campus Lunch Pass and must have that on their person when they leave and return from lunch that day. Students who are found to have left campus and do not have this pass on them will be referred to their principal and be assigned disciplinary consequences.
- Students are not authorized to leave campus during regular school hours for any other reason, except with the permission of the principal.
- Students who leave campus in violation of these rules will be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
- Students arriving to campus after the first bell must enter the building through the main office or south office. All other doors and the gates to the back fence will be locked once the school day begins for 1st and 5th period.
C. Dress Code
- Hair shall be clean and well-groomed. All hair colors shall be natural hair colors. Bright or neon colors and extreme hairstyles, including shaved designs and Mohawks, are prohibited. Male hair length shall not extend below the earlobes or below the collar.
- Facial hair is prohibited. Male students must be clean shaven at all times, with no mustaches or goatees. Sideburns may not extend below the earlobe nor be more than one inch (1") in width.
- Jeans may have holes as long as the holes are below mid-thigh and no larger than 3"x3" (the size of a normal Post-It sticky note).

ATTENDANCE
ATTENDANCE FOR CREDIT
The Texas Education Code Sec. 25.092 states: MINIMUM ATTENDANCE FOR CLASS CREDIT OR FINAL GRADE: a student in any grade level from kindergarten through grade 12 may not be given credit or a final grade for a class unless the student is in attendance for at least 90 percent of the days the class is offered. This 90 percent rule includes ALL absences, excused and unexcused.
However, if a student is currently in attendance for at least 75 percent, they may participate in the FHS Principal’s Attendance for Credit Recovery Plan. Frenship High School Principal’s Credit Recovery Plan consists of student’s recovering credit through tutorials and Extended Day Suspension (EDS).
If your student falls below 75%, which equates to 10 absences in a class for the first semester and 11 absences in a class for the second semester, they will not receive credit for the course and will be in jeopardy of not graduating on schedule.
TRUANCY LAWS
In the State of Texas, the parent or guardian may be taken to court for “Parent Contributing to Non-Attendance” under Texas Education Code 25.093. “A child engages in truant conduct if the child is required to attend school under Section 25.085 of the Texas Education Code and fails to attend on 10 or more days or parts of days within a six month period, in the same school year.”
Texas Education Code 25.093(a),(c): Parent Contributing to Non-Attendance
If an annual warning has been issued, the parent commits an offense if the parent fails to require the child to attend school and the child has been absent from school without excuse ten or more days or parts-of-days within a six-month period. Each day the child remains out of school may constitute a separate offense.
Texas Education Code 25.095(a): Warning Notices
A school district shall notify a student’s parent in writing that if the student is absent from school without excuse on ten or more days or parts-of-days within a six-month period in the same school year, the student and/or parent may be subject to prosecution.
