Assuring Learning Excellence and Readiness for a Changing World
Record breaking week...
Did you hear the news? Our own Heather Mueller has been named Deputy Commissioner of Education. Scarlets are well represented in the state of Minnesota!
Let's Get to Know...
Gregory Euclide, from our art department. Gregory has been teaching for over 20 years, and has been at West for the past 1.5 years. This summer, Gregory did an interior design project for the River Rock Coffee Bar in Mankato. He grew up north of Milwaukee in Cedarburg. He was captain of the State Champion Soccer team (undefeated & unscored on for the entire year & State Tournament). He was the first student to take AP Art at his high school and received a 4/4. Gregory and his wife have two little ones with curls. In his free time, he likes to do yard work, cook and collect music.
Kevin Dick, from our tech ed department. Kevin has been teaching for 8 years, this is his 7th at West. This summer he did auto manufacturer training at Dunwoody College. Kevin and his wife live in North Mankato and have 3 girls; 3, 6, and one born in October. In his free time, he enjoys time with family, being outdoors, and farming.
Rebecca Zenk, from our special education department. Rebecca has been teaching 7 years, all at West High School. Her hometown in Redwood Falls, she went to Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School and Winona State University. Rebecca loves her roles of wife, step-mom and mom. She enjoys cooking, shopping (even for groceries), and crafts. This year, Rebecca is excited for the opportunity to co-teach.

Reminders
Student Surveys
Be sure to have your students complete feedback surveys before the end of the semester. Here is one you can use google form survey (Be sure to make a copy to use as your own.)
Grading - End of Semester
A failing grade should not be a surprise to parents. If a student is failing your class, be sure to communicate that with the parents before the end of the semester.
Shining Scarlets
It is time to be thinking of you students who you would like to nominate for Shining Scarlets. Shining Scarlet Breakfast will be Friday, February 7th.
Opportunity to Help a Scarlet Alumni
I know we are community that cares, and when there is a need, you are always quick to give your support. Let's remind AJ, "once a Scarlet, always a Scarlet."
PLC this Tuesday
We do have a group going to a Rick Wormeli conference in February to learn more about SBG.
AVID Summer Institute
District Facilities Committee
One need that has been identified by staff and students is the need for flex space. It is one I observe every day with students sitting in the hall to complete work, work in small groups, or just a space to take a break. It is also one need identified by our students serving on our Principal Advisory Council.
