Important Information for You!

Welcome back from Intersession #1!

Whether you stayed home or traveled, I hope that you had a wonderful and restful Intersession. As we return, it is important to remember that we will need to be sure to reteach Cardinal Code and behavior expectations this week and continue that teaching over the next few weeks as this month there will only be one full week of school. From the hallways to the classroom, from the bathroom to the playground, from the lunchroom to the library, we can not assume students will remember what to do and how to act...reteach, where your students show you they need it most.

Here's to a great week!

Report Cards & Parent Teacher Conferences

Please remember that report cards need to be completed by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, November 6th. Anna will then work on printing report cards for your review on Tuesday. Please remember to send Anna the names of any student that you need duplicate copies of the report card for.

Also, don't forget that we will be passing out the Parents' Read-at-Home-Plan for Student Success. These should be given one per family. If you know of siblings in the building, please work with the other child's teacher to determine who will give a copy to the parents. I will be working to get you a list of students who you will NOT give booklets to due to them having older sibling(s) in grades 1-3. We want parents to see how important these are, but do not want them to be inundated with them and have them loose their importance.

Please remember if there is a conference you would like me to sit in on, please let me know and ask Anna to get it added to my calendar.

As in years past, I will provide dinner on Wednesday, November 8th and will have it ready by 3:45 p.m. This year we will be having a taco/nacho bar catered by our own food service. The taco/nacho bar is excellent and a favorite when day long meetings take place.

'Office Hours'

Since this Thursday is parent-teacher conference day and conferences do not start until 10:00 a.m., I will be at school by 9:00 a.m. for any teacher that would like to meet and go over lesson plans or any piece of balanced literacy. Just meet me in the lounge at 9:00 a.m. or pop into my office.

Cool to Care

As shared, Cool to Care kicks off this week! I will send our school Cool to Care Challenge flyer home on Wednesday. As always, please collect the items in your classrooms and keep a running tally. We will be working with high school students who will come around once/twice a week to collect the items from your room.

Sad Intersession News

As I am sure most of you already are aware, Tricia Smith, Central First Grade Teacher, passed away after a very strong battle with Cancer. To have met Tricia was to know her passion, kindness, genuine, and true spirit. Tricia leaves behind two young sons and husband Blake, also a teacher in Davison. I have been asked if we would be doing anything as a building. I know that an educational fund has been set up for the boys. If anyone is interested in donating to this as a building, please give your donation to the office and I will send a card and the total donation to Blake on Thursday.

Quotes Worth Reading

'Grit is passion and perseverance for very long-term goals.

Grit is having stamina.

Grit is sticking with your future, day-in, day-out.

Not just for the week, not just for the month, but for years.

And working really hard to make that future a reality.

Grit is living life like it's a marathon, not a sprint.'
