Timothy Ball News May 11-May 15
Welcoming all. Believing in all. Growth for all.
A Note from Mr. Ciochina
Timothy Ball Family,
We have made it through another week of Distance Learning -- I am so appreciative of everyone's incredible time, effort, and hard work to support our students during this time. It was an incredible week for the staff and teachers and we felt the love and appreciation from so many of our students and parents. Thank you for being amazing partners.
We have 8 days of distance learning remaining in the school year.
- It is important that students finish strong! Thank you so much for working so hard to support your student(s) during this time. The calendar will continue with the M-W-F schedule until the end of the year. The last day for assigning work or delivering instruction is May 20. The remaining three days (May 22, May 27, and May 29) are for make-up work, student-teacher communication, and some culminating events for the year. The last day of school is May 29.
- If your student is struggling with emotions, work completion, or anything you think we can help with -- please do not hesitate to reach out to the teacher, Mrs. Holok, or to me. We are here to help.

Congratulations Math Bowl students!
This year Math Bowl had a different set up. The Individual Math Bowl was a compilation of all 40 questions that would have been used at the competition. Students had 50 minutes to answer those 40 questions on their own. We had 10 students participate in this unique competition.
Congratulations to the students who participated!

End of the Year Events
- Fifth Grade Goodbye - Our teachers, staff, and PTO are planning some different ways to make the end of this year special for our fifth graders. More communication will be coming to fifth grade parents when more information is available.
- Kindergarten Graduation - Our Kindergarten team is working on a special video to make up for the fact that we will not be able to have our usual ceremony! This will be shared with Kindergarten families in late May.
- Field Day - We will have a "Virtual Field Day" on May 22 or May 27, depending how the weather forecast looks. More information about this fun event will be shared in the coming weeks.
- Talent Show - This is a fun tradition for fourth and fifth grade students and we are working on a "Virtual Talent Show" opportunity for students to submit a video and then to share it with our other students. More information will be coming to our fourth and fifth grade students and parents. Yes, Mr. Ciochina and Mrs. Holding will be doing the "Chicken Dance" as promised to our students!

Social Emotional News from Mrs. Holok
Hi Timothy Ball families!
Please click on the button below to access a fun activity sheet. This is a two week chart with a variety of positive things kids can do every day while still at home and unable to resume normal activities. There are some great suggestions for how to help kids think of others during this difficult time as well as work through their own feelings.
I wish you all peace and health and I miss your kids very much!
In the case of emergency, see the information below.
1. Police Officers will do wellness checks. If you contact authorities because you believe they are at risk (i.e. planning to hurt themselves, being hurt by others, etc.) they will go to the home.
2. The Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-TALK (1-800-273-8255) / www.suicidepreventionlifeline.org. The Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you and your loved ones, and best practices for professionals.

Parents of K - 3 students, please follow this link to the Young Hoosier Book Picture Book voting page. https://www.ilfonline.org/page/2019-20YHBAPicture
Your children have qualified to vote for their favorite book of the 20 nominees. Normally, I would use a class period to help them through the process. Because of our unusual circumstances, the Indiana Library Federation has setup online voting and extended the deadline to June 1. Hopefully, your child will tell you about their favorite as you navigate through the link.
I hope all of you are well. I miss your children so much!
Mrs. Kerr
