Our committee consists of staff members, District level personnel, parents, community members (residents of the District, but not parents of students), and business representatives.
Parent membership includes a PTA representative, one parent appointed by the principal, and four parents determined by a random drawing from among volunteers. Members serve for a one or two year term. Three are vacancies to fill for the 2016-2017 school year.
If you are willing to serve Carlisle as a member of the SBIC committee, please email our Assistant Principal, Jana Sandall, at jana.sandall@pisd.edu or call (469) 752-0611. The committee meets three times a year from 3-4p.m. Our tentative dates for this year are:

"Lil" Pups Literacy Program
Dear Parents,
Carlisle is implementing an early literacy program for preschool children in our community. The first Thursday of every month will be Early Literacy Day at Carlisle Elementary Library. The “Lil’ Pups Literacy Program” is for children ages 3-5 years. There will be a morning session from 8:00-8:45 a.m. in the Carlisle Library. Children and parents will meet monthly for workshops, reading and fun activities that are proven to enhance pre-reading abilities in your young child. Come in to sign up or call and register your child today for this fantastic program.Friendly Reminders
- On time arrival at school is very important in order for students to start their day successfully! The school opens at 7:00 a.m. each morning with adult supervision. Starting at 7:30, students are allowed to go directly to their classroom. Arriving by 7:30 allows for the students to have a smooth start to their day, not feel rushed, get things unpacked, and not miss any instruction. The tardy bell rings at 7:45 a.m., and students who aren’t in the building at 7:45 a.m. are counted tardy. Three tardies equal an absence.
- Absences - Please call the Child Safe Line at 469-752-0600; press #3, and follow the instructions to let us know when your child is going to be absent. We will need your child’s name, homeroom teacher, dates of absence and reason. You will need to send a note to the front office when your child returns to school to excuse the absence. After seven (7) cumulative excused absences, a doctor’s note shall be required to excuse any further absences. It is critically important that your child be in school every day to benefit from optimal learning opportunities.
- Please practice patience and safety when dropping off and picking up your children. Several parents in the neighborhood have complained about cars speeding through private alleyways as well as parking in places that are not designated as such. The Plano Police Department has been notified and will be randomly checking the area. Violations of speeding or parking will be addressed by the Plano Police Department. Please partner with us to ensure our students arrive and depart school safely.
Nurses' News
Take a Taste Tuesday
Each week, one class will get a chance to try a fruit or vegetable that starts with the letter of the week. The students all learn about the food on the morning announcements. This week for the letter A, Miss Grace introduced to apricots. Since fresh apricots are not in season, she showed us a picture of fresh apricots and a bowl of dried apricots. Apricots are a great source of vitamins A and C and fiber and energy too. Dried apricots make a sweet, nutritious snack for school or anytime.
Mrs. Nguyen’s kindergarten class got to taste the apricots and everyone gave a Thumbs Up to the sweet flavor of healthy apricots.
We hope that this will encourage your children to try new things. Put apricots on your shopping list this week!

For the dads, you'll learn a bit about this amazing program, hear our goals for the year and be able to sign up for your preferred date to volunteer at the school.
We also have some great door prizes this year, such as Watch D.O.G.S. swag and other donated items.

Walk 'n Roll Wednesdays
Walk and Roll Wednesdays Have STARTED!
The purpose of Walk and Roll Wednesdays is to encourage families to walk or ride bikes to school.
- We encourage you to find safe routes to school and to use this as an opportunity to teach your children about community safety.
- We encourage you to decrease the environmental impact of so many cars driving to school each day. This also helps to lessen the congestion in the car pool drop off line.
- We encourage students to get a little early morning exercise to stimulate brain oxygenation and blood flow for the day.
- We encourage you to make this a healthy habit on more than just Wednesdays.
Because some students have no choice but to come to school by car or bus, we offer a Wednesday morning Coyote walk before school. Starting at 7:10 am, students can join Miss Grace and other school staff at the front entryway. A group leaves for a lap to the bridge and back about every 5 minutes. All students are welcome to attend. This year, we invite parents to join us too. We can always use some extra eyes on the slower walkers at the back of the group. So lace up your sneakers and come walk with us.
Please discuss some basic Walk and Roll safety rules with your child:
- Bike riders should wear helmets and lock their bikes on a bike rack.
- Bike riders should obey all traffic rules.
- Students who eat breakfast in the cafeteria must go in to breakfast first. They can join the group for a lap if there is enough time
- Walkers at school must listen to directions from adults.
- We walk SINGLE FILE along the carpool lane.
- We walk at all times (please no running).
- We will have positive behavior and polite words at all times.
- We will wait calmly and patiently near the entrance for the next lap, even if no adult is present.
