25TH Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
Our upcoming production of SPELLING BEE will be occurring on Thursday and Friday, April 26 and 27 and May 3 and 4 in the AMPHITHEATRE at Blake High School.
SPELLING BEE deals with an annual spelling bee in Putnam County (name your state). The play is rated PG-13 for audiences and is appropriate for middle school students and up. A series of vignettes displays characters looking to win the contest despite obstacles in their personalities as well as their familial backgrounds. The songs help reveal the unique and sometimes weird aspects of the characters as well as how spelling bees might be run. The musical is great fun and is one of the most popular musicals currently being produced in the USA.
An attraction to seeing the show is that audience members may participate as contestants in the Spelling Bee. We will have an “Interview Table” set-up ½-hour before each show to interview potential contestants. We are looking for normal people as opposed to “hammy” actors. Age is not a factor, nor is gender or any other thing. We may try to encourage Blake teachers to participate as a way of attracting student audience members. However, you may wish to use this “feature” as a way to attract participants.
We ask that you do your best to secure audience attendance for the show by inviting family and friends. All General Admission tickets will be sold at a flat-rate $10 per person for both students and adults. Reserved Seating for preferential seating will be a flat rate
$15 per ticket.

College Decision Day
College gear is encouraged but not required. Pictures will be tweeted using the hastags #CollegeDecisionDay and #WeAreBlake and will be posted to the Blake homepage.
Eventually, these pictures will be printed and posted onto the large bulletin board in the A hallway across from the Blake College/Career Center.
Students who are absent on May 1 are encouraged to take selfies and give them to Mrs. Prochnow, Blake College/Career Coordinator, so that their photos can also be posted on the bulletin board.
