Sports Leaders

This week, the sports leaders played a game with KS2 called 4 Square. This game includes a ball and a 2 metre by 2 metre square split into 4 equal size boxes. Each box is numbered 1-4 with 4 being the ‘king’ square. You have to hit the ball with your hands and try to make it bounce into someone else's square. If you get out you have to move to square number 1 and everyone else moves up trying to get to the ultimate ‘king’ square and try to stay there!


With KS1 we set up a game called balancing ropes. This game includes rope, something to balance on your head and obstacles to avoid. The children had to balance on the rope on the ground and walk along it whilst balancing the item on their head (like a beanbag). If the item on their head falls off, they have to go to the back of the line. There are 3 difficulties with each rope set out differently (one harder than the other)!

Don’t forget that we are still collecting contributions for the FOSS Christmas Fayre. We need raffle prizes and gifts for the chocolate tombola please. These should be brought into school by Monday 29th November.

Blind Auctions

Blind Auctions

As part of the Christmas Fayre, FOSS have two blind auctions running – one for a golf fourball voucher for Fulford Golf Club, and the other for a mountain bike. Bids indicating the amount you are willing to pay should be submitted during the fayre or to the school office by Monday 6th December.

The Christmas Fayre

The Christmas Fayre will take place jointly with the church next Friday. This will start at 2.45pm when children will go into the church to sing favourite Christmas songs. The church will be decorated with Christmas trees that have been donated by local organisations and businesses. From 3.30pm until 5pm there will be a number of stalls and games to enjoy. The Christmas trees will remain in church to view all weekend, and the village lights switch-on will take place on Sunday. If you are visiting the event, PHE encourage you to take a lateral flow Coronavirus test that day to reduce the risk of asymptomatic transmission of infection to others.

Bag to School

Don't forget Wednesday 1st December we will be taking part in 'Bag to School' to raise much needed funds for FOSS. Bag up your donations and please bring into school before 9am on Wednesday 1st December. Please do not bring your bags before 1st December as we do not have space to store them in school.

Christmas Post Box

Christmas Post Box

From next week, we will put our Christmas post box in school. This is for children to send Christmas cards to other people in our school (sadly, we can’t deliver to friends outside school!). To help our postal service make sure that the card is delivered to the right person, please ensure that all envelopes are clearly marked with the child’s full name and class.

School Lunches

Please see the Autumn Lunch menu below. Next week we will be on Week 3 of the menu.


Children can decide daily whether they are having a school dinner or packed lunch.


Please ensure you discuss the menu each day with your child so they can decide what they would like to order. Once they know their choices, they will choose this each morning with their teacher during registration.


Each day there are now 4 choices, either the hot dinner, hot vegetarian option, jacket potato with a choice of toppings or a sandwich. The sandwich and jacket potato always come with a selection of vegetables/salad on the side and have the full pudding choice for that day.

From 8th September - 18th December 2021. This is our new menu for September - children now have a vegetarian option to choose from as well as a jacket potato or a sandwich.
