Back-to-School Message

August 18, 2021

Dear Parent/Guardian,

I am excited to begin the 2021-2022 school year and I am thrilled to have our students returning to school in person on a full-time basis. The district has been working tirelessly to prepare for the new school year. So far this summer over 185 students have enrolled with registrations continuing.

To facilitate a safe return to school, I want to review the following protocols:

  • As has been previously shared, the North Ridgeville City Schools strongly recommends face coverings for those who are unvaccinated per Ohio Department of Health, Ohio Department of Education, and Lorain County Public Health guidelines.

  • Per federal law, students and staff using busing must wear masks at all times while on school transportation. This includes transportation to and from school, field trips, and athletic events.

  • The Ohio Department of Health now oversees contact tracing and notification to families. It is important to note if staff/students are unmasked and unvaccinated, and come into contact with an individual who tests positive for COVID-19, they will likely have to quarantine for 7-10 days. If exposed, students who are not required to quarantine, but are unvaccinated, will be required to wear a mask in all district buildings for 10 days.

  • Staff and students who are fully vaccinated or masked will not need to quarantine if they come into contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 unless they are showing symptoms.

Similar to the 2020-2021 school year, the district will maintain its hygiene protocols including:

  • Daily cleaning throughout the district

  • Physical distancing

  • Increased fresh air flow through building HVAC systems

  • Hand sanitizing stations will be at all entry points, in addition to current classroom dispensers

  • Designated hand washing/sanitizing stations will be located throughout the district

  • Cleaning of buses between each run

  • Hand sanitizing stations on each bus

I am looking forward to the 2021-2022 school year and the memorable moments we will create as a district. School starts for grades 1-12 on Thursday, August 19, and Tuesday, August 24, for Pre-K-Kindergarten. I hope your student has a wonderful school year and remembers to stay Ranger STRONG.
