Dimensions
The Titanic was 269.06 meters long and 28.19 at its maximum width. Its maximum height is 32 meters. The boat has 8 total decks.
Passenger Facilities
The Titanic had the highest luxury passenger facilities. It had space for 833 First Class passengers, 614 in second class, and 1006 in third class. This adds up to a total of 2,453 facilities.
Crew
The Titanic had 885 crew members. Captain Edward John Smith was the captain. The Titanic crew was divided into 3 main groups. They were Deck with 66, Engine with 325, and Victualing 494. Just 23 crew members were females.
Sinking
At 11:40 pm on April 14th, lookout Frederick Fleet spotted an iceberg way to close to the boat. First Officer Williams Murdoch ordered the boat to be steered around the iceberg and the motors to be put in reverse. The Titanic was not ready to have an emergency. It only had enough life boats to carry half of the passengers. Only a third, including the crew, could fit inside the boats. They followed the children and women first method. 2 hours and 40 minutes after the Titanic hit the iceberg its sink rate increased significantly. This made the boat break into 2 pieces. People still were thrown into -2 ice cold water. You can not survive more than 15 minutes maximum in water with those temperatyres.
Miss Elizabeth Gladys Dean
Also known as Millvina was only a few moths old when she and her whole family went on the Titanic. They boarded at Southampton. They were immigrating to Kansas to open a shop. Her mother, her brother and her were the ones of their family that survived. She was the last remaining survivor of the Titanic. She lived up to be 97 years ago.
Violet Jesop
She was an ocean liner stewardess and a nurse. She also survived the Britannic crash in 1916. It was the Titanic's sister ship. She survived another 2 ship disasters.
Lillian Asplund
She was the last Swedish/American on the sinking. She was 5 in that time. She held memories of the sinking. She board the 3rd class passenger class. She remembers it being fresh and brightly painted. She passed away when she was 99.
Barbara Joyce Dainton West
She was the second last remaining survivor of the Titanic. She boarded the Titanic when she was only 10 months old. Her whole family was immigrating to the United States to begin a whole new life. Her dad did not survive. His body was never found. She died at the age of 96.
