FBISD schools are currently closed through April 10, 2020.
OUR APOLOGIES
We apologize for any student and their family who may have missed The Community "We Miss You" Parade. Our intention was to parade through all of our feeder pattern communities for an equal amount of time on Thursday morning to say hello and to show how much we love and miss the kids. With news of the pending County Shutdown, we did the best that we could with hours notice and moved forward with the parade Tuesday afternoon. We hope that you will grant us grace during this time as our intention was to spread love and light. Again, we apologize for anyone who was unavailable to attend and we will plan a community event to make it up to everyone as soon as we are allowed to do so. We miss you all and stay safe.

JAGS ARE ON THE MOVE!
Parents,
Your family's overall wellness during this time is paramount. Anxiety and paranoia around the impact of this virus is becoming more and more an issue. Please keep a consistent schedule for yourself, take time to engage/communicate instead of isolate, and reach out to your Jaguar family.
We are so sorry to any family who missed the parade Tuesday afternoon. The choice to move the parade up was a hurried one, but out intention was filled with huge hearts and open arms. Thank you for those that participated in our "We Miss You" parade. We loved seeing your faces and it made us feel super emotional to know your kids miss us too. We will be sharing pictures throughout the newsletter to imbibe a positive vibe for all.
If you would like to see more pictures, access to the photo album is on our Library Schoology page titled "Extended Break Selfies". The Library Schoology course code is WP6Q-TM7S-8D848. Please continue to send us your photos so we can add them to Twitter, Instagram, and our weekly newsletter!
Regarding instruction: I encourage you and your child to check in daily with their courses beginning on Monday, March 30 through Schoology. The teachers will send you more specific information about what they have planned. On another note, I have to say that our teachers are as eager as you are to begin this process. I was able to hold a virtual faculty meeting with our staff this week, and they are just as anxious to get back to what they do best…teach our children. If for any reason we do have issues, we will be here to assist the teachers, students, and parents as we navigate through this process together.
I look forward to beginning this platform for online learning and providing our students with opportunities in learning in a manner that many have never had before. I applaud all of our parents for taking on a role that may be new, but remember our staff will be with you. We look forward to a continued partnership with you as we embark on the online learning adventure together.
As always, please do not hesitate to let me know if you have questions or need support. Stay safe and healthy! I want to leave you with this…be patient, be kind, and above all have Grace.
You are loved and missed!

Online Learning Support
WHAT PARENTS CAN EXPECT BEGINNING MARCH 30, 2020
Online engagement to launch the week of March 30, formal instruction April 3
Although many FBISD teachers have had informal contact with their students during the past two weeks, during the week of March 30, teachers will launch our online learning experience. The first week online will be a lot like the first week of the school year – setting norms and expectations regarding what online learning will look like and making sure students and their parents have the tools and ability needed to participate in online learning. Formal instruction will begin April 3.
Students are expected to participate fully in online learning
Please trust that we do not expect students to be in school six or seven hours each day. That is not realistic or possible. Although full participation is expected of all students, time will vary. These expectations will be spelled out by your teacher when school resumes. Students and their parents will be able to do their schoolwork on a flexible basis to accommodate the schedules of their parents and teachers.
Students to receive grades for completed assignments
Student work will be graded because it is important that they receive feedback on their efforts and progress through the curriculum. But, due to the nature of our shift to online learning, this experience will not mirror a typical instructional environment. This means grades might look different for the fourth quarter. We have not made a decision about grading yet, but we will communicate that information next week, as students begin online learning. As you know, we completed the third quarter of our school year before spring break, but grades have not been posted. This is because we are working to develop an overall approach to grading for this school year that might require some form of averaging or integration of third quarter grades to complete the fourth quarter and end-of-year grade. Again, all of these details will be shared publicly next week, once we've studied the possibilities and arrived at a decision.

Connect using Schoology
As we are transitioning to online/virtual learning, besides regular emails, Schoology is the district platform that Counselors will be using to communicate with our students. We have each created a Schoology group as a way to not only connect with our students, but to also provide resources, guidance lessons, hold virtual conferences, and offer other forms of support.
Please encourage your student to join their grade level Schoology group
