Greetings BHCS Family,

We have been so busy in Wildcat Country that it’s hard to believe it’s already the holiday season! I am so proud of all of our students who have participated in the many events we have held, as well as all the hard work they have put forth these past several months! We

cannot wait to see the progress they have made as we go through MAP testing the next few weeks.

Over the next few weeks our teachers and staff have planned several activities to celebrate the many holidays of the season. We look forward to our parents and family volunteers visiting and helping us with these special events.

As you enjoy your holiday break please remember to encourage students to read every day and look for ways to make family time a learning experience! I cannot wait to see what 2020 has in store for us here at Bethel Hill Charter!

Thanks for a WONDERFUL Night of ENTERTAINMENT...

Thanks to all who came out on Friday, November 14 to enjoy our 2019 Talent Show! It was truly a night of great performances and all the students did a fantastic job showing off their many talents! We appreciate your support and especially want to thank all the students, parents, and teachers who were involved for their time and dedication in making this another successful show! Go Wildcats!!!

Colonial Days

The first and second graders spent November 25th and 26th reliving Colonial Days. This special time of year for us is part of our Core Knowledge study of the history of the United States. Much of our study focuses on events that took place during colonial times. Each year the students cook and eat food, play games, make crafts and dress as colonial families would have done during their lives. Our hope is to bring that time in history alive for the students. We had such a large group of volunteers this year. We were so thankful for everything they did for us. This event would never be possible without the support we get from our BHCS families.

PTO Officers

The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a great way to get involved and actively support Bethel Hill Charter School. The BHCS PTO will have officer positions available for the 2020 - 21 school year. If you are interested in serving as a PTO officer or have questions, please email

Applications will also be avaliable in the main office and may be returned to the main office upon completion. We look forward to hearing from you!

2020/2021 Kindergarten Registration

Registration for next year’s kindergarten classes will begin in January. All students (priority and nonpriority) who wish to register for the 2020/2021 school year will need to attend one of the following meetings. All Priority Students (Siblings of current students, in district students, and children of employees) must attend one of the January meetings Non-Priority Students must attend one of any of the four available meetings.

· January 14 at 7 pm in the auditorium

· January 30 at 10 am in the auditorium

· February 4 at 7 pm in the auditorium

· February 27 at 10 am in the auditorium

Kindergarten applications will only be accepted at one of the listed meetings. Please do not send applications back to school by currently enrolled students.

Inclement Weather Reminder

In the event of inclement conditions, announcements regarding the cancellation or delayed opening of school will be made as quickly as possible. BHCS will follow the same decisions as Person County Schools. Please refer to local radio, TV, and our school website. If school is dismissed early, local media will be contacted, as well as a call from our Alert Now notification system. If you are not getting these calls, please contact the office to verify that we have your correct phone number. At the beginning of the school year, you are asked to make transportation arrangements for cases of inclement weather on the emergency form. There will be no after school care if school is dismissed early due to inclement weather.

Helpful Hint for Winter...

With the cooler weather comes the need for warmer clothing. Each year there is an abundance of coats, hats, gloves, etc. left behind that end up in the school's Lost and Found. Clearly labeling your student's winter clothing with their first and last name will greatly assist teachers and staff with identifying and returning lost items. If your student is missing an item (coat, hat, lunchbox, water bottle, etc.) please have them check the Lost and Found box located in the main building. Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Fifth Grade has Sweet Treats for sale...

Fifth grade students will be selling World's Finest Chocolate bars throughout the months of December and January. The chocolate bars will be $1 each and make a great addition to any gift! Chocolate bars will be available for purchase from fifth grade students & teachers as well as being available in the main office. Proceeds will go toward the fifth grade Washington D.C. field trip in April. Thank you for your support!
