The Structure of DNA

By: Ashley Burke and Edgar Jesus

Structure of DNA

DNA is a double helix formed by base pairs attached to a sugar-phosphate backbone.

Double Helix

Two stands twisted around each other like a winding stair case.

Nucleotides

Sub units that make up DNA.

Deoxyribose

5 carbon sugar in DNA nucleotides.

DNA replication

DNA carries the information for making all of the cell's proteins. These proteins implement all of the functions of a living organism and determine the organism's characteristics.
