The PE Coaches
Congratulations to our Benignus Artists that participated in the Texas Elementary Art Meet. 8 out of the 10 scored a 3, the highest score possible!! Texas Elementary Art Meet (TEAM) is a visual arts event recognizing exemplary elementary student artwork that is sponsored by The Texas Art Education Association.
Destination Imagination
On March 22nd our two Destination Imagination teams traveled to Corpus Christi to show off their creative problem-solving skills against teams from across the state of Texas! Both the DIagnosis and the DImagineers had flawless performances that received recognition from peers and judges! Team DIagnosis swept their competition by clinching 2nd place in the Scientific: Medical Mystery challenge! Mrs. Dougherty and her team will be traveling to DI Globals in Kansas City, MO on May 21st! Congrats to both teams for their fantastic performances!
TRANSPORTATION CHANGES
Students will not be allowed to change their method of transportation unless there is a written note or a phone call from the parent/guardian. You may call the front desk (832-484-7750) or write a note notifying the school of any transportation changes.
EARLY RELEASE PROCEDURES
Having students remain in school for the entire school day is a critical part of student academic success. Should a situation occur requiring you to pick your child up early, please adhere to the following guidelines:
Students may not be called out of the class until the parent/guardian arrives on campus. Please plan to arrive allowing enough time for office personnel to call for your student. Please report to the front office to sign your child out. (Remember, a photo ID is always required). Students may only be released to authorized individuals listed in Skyward unless a phone call from the parent/guardian or a written note is sent to the office ahead of time. Early release for studentsâ after-school programs will not be able to be honored. Many of our school programs conclude in the afternoon nearing the end of the day. We ask that you please allow your child to return to class and dismiss the way they normally go home.
Unless it is an emergency, we will not be able to honor early dismissals after 2:30 pm. The entire front office team focuses on preparing for student dismissal during this time. Last minute student requests make it very difficult to assure that we are prepared for a safe and orderly dismissal. Should you have an emergency requiring an early dismissal after 2:30 p.m., please speak to one of the administrators.
Digital Flyers
Digital flyers are all now on Peachjar.
Custodial Notification
Please assist us in the handling of custody related issues. It is the responsibility of the parents to provide the principal a certified copy of the court order affecting any other personâs right to their children. Should you have any questions please call Dawn Proctor at 832-484-7705.
Attendance Reminders
Attendance plays a major role in ensuring that your child achieves educational excellence. It is our hope and desire that your child gets the most of their educational experience. By attending school every day each child is a step closer to obtaining that goal! We understand that extenuating circumstances or illness are inevitable and ask that upon your childâs return to school, you promptly send in a medical note or parent notification. In order to document the excused absence, we must receive a note within 5 days from the childâs return to school.
School starts by 8:05 each day, and students are welcome in the building as early as 7:50. We love having our Leopards at school every day, all day! Questions? Please call our attendance secretary, Mrs. Sanford, at 832-484-7708.
Party Invitations to Outside Events
Please note the teacher cannot facilitate the delivery of invites to any outside events i.e. birthday parties, sleepovers etc. The delivery of party invitations should happen outside of the instructional day.
Birthday Treats
Birthday Snacks
Please contact our school nurses if you want to purchase/bring a birthday snack for your child and classmates at least two weeks prior to your childâs birthday. Our nurses will get in touch with our cafeteria manager who will then contact you with the total cost. There are several choices such as cookies, ice cream and popsicles. We prefer for all birthday snacks to be purchased in this manner, however if you would like to bring in an outside snack for the class it must be approved at least two weeks in advance with a list of all ingredients used and where the snack was prepared/purchased. We have so many students with allergies that we have to be diligent in making certain that we are not allowing any ingredients that would trigger an allergic reaction in anyone.
Therefore, please follow our guidelines. It is very sad for us to decline a birthday snack on a studentâs birthday because appropriate procedures have not been followed.
