Congratulations to the Lucky 7 who will be representing Butler and the State of Wisconsin at the National Future Cities Competition in Washington D.C. this weekend. They took first place overall in the Regional Competition at MSOE.

A special thank you to Troy Lucey (parent/mentor) and Gretchen Pratt (BMS teacher) for helping organize and taking all seven teams (35 students total) to the local competition.

Fluid Power Challenge

Students participating in the Fluid Power Challenge built fluid-powered machines and learned about the challenge criteria this past week. There are 5 teams of 8th graders, 1 team of 7th graders, and 1 team from Quest participating. They will compete March 15th against 60 other teams from the area to build the best fluid powered machine. Go Butler!

Thank You for Your Service

Mrs. Merten and Mrs. Kozelek's Leadership & Service classes decorated Valentine's hearts for the Wisconsin deployed Military Service Members as part of their on-going service projects.

Dual Language

Our dual language students went to Blair Elementary on Martin Luther King day In January to read books related to civil rights to 1st graders.

Geography Bee

We held the School Round of the National Geography Bee in January with 14 finalists competing. Congratulations to our champions!

3rd Place - Isaiah Guerrero

Ethan will now be taking a qualifying test to determine eligibility to compete in the State GeographyBee, held in March in Madison. Congratulations Ethan!!!

February Fox River Field Trip

The 7th grade blue team went on the annual Fox River Field trip in early February. Students were able to enjoy snowshoeing as part of their lesson on the environmental impact of salting roads. They also conducted lab experiments to develop the most effective and environmentally friendly ways to melt snow/ice.

March Madness - March 8th

General March Madness Info

- March 8 beginning at 3pm. Should wrap up around 5:30ish

- $1 admission for spectators. Parents and non-Butler guests welcome

- Pay at door or students can pre-purchase during lunch week of March 4th. Buying in advance enters student into half court shot contest during half time

- Concessions available for $1


New this year! We will be selling t-shirt for March Madness! T-shirts will be sold during lunches the week of March 4th for $10 each. Students can pay cash or with a check made out to Butler Middle School. Any remaining t-shirts will be sold during March Madness for $12 each.

January Picture Re-takes

If your student had his/her picture taken by School and Sport Pics in January a photo key was sent home with your student earlier this week. You can go to the School and Sport Pics website (click here) to enter your student's shoot key to order the photos.

If your student did not bring home his/her shoot key please go to the School and Sport Pics website and click on "contact us." Then scroll down and enter your information under "how do I get a shoot key." This is THE FASTEST way to get your student's information. If you call them they will re-direct you to this page.

Spirit Wear

The Spirit Wear sales have closed. Orders will arrive within 1-2 weeks. When the order arrives your student will be sent a pass to the office to pick up your items. Thank you for supporting Butler spirit wear fundraising!

8th Grade Recognition Night

NEW THIS YEAR all 8th grade students will be invited to our 8th Grade Recognition Night.

To accommodate 8th grade students and families we will be using the field house at North High School.

Please save the date of Thursday, June 6th at 6:30pm (note NEW DATE) for this night as we celebrate our 8th grade students as they prepare to start high school next year. More information will be coming.

All orders are done through CustomInk. You have the option to pay online (choose "Pay Now" when ordering) or pay by cash or check (choose "I'll pay offline" when ordering).

When ordering, please be sure to list the student's name and grade in the private note field. Cash or check (made out to Butler Middle School) can be sent to school c/o Mr. Kovnesky. The order deadline is Wednesday, February 20th.

Color Craze

The Color Craze is a colorful and crazy 5K which is fun for the whole family! It’s an event that promotes exercising and leading a healthier lifestyle. You can walk, crawl, sprint, cartwheel or jog as long as you're having a good time! The Color Craze 5K will benefit the clubs, activities and athletics at Butler Middle School. Bring out your friends, family and furry friends on Saturday, May 18th! Register here.

Student Safety

Please talk to your child about using the crosswalks around Butler if they walk or get dropped off. Before and after school, Michigan and Hine Avenues are extremely busy. We have two crossing guards in the morning and two in the afternoon. Also, please continue to drive slowly and carefully around school.
