Parent Place December Edition
A Newsletter for parents @ Columbus First Assembly
Merry Christmas!
PreSchool parents take a moment and read the Kids Dock section of the newsletter. It will give you a great overview of what your children will be learning when they advance to the Kids Dock. The entire three-year curriculum is laid out this month.
Mary and I will not be here on December 30th. We will have a family service that will include the children from the Kids Dock. The Nursery/Toddler area and PreSchool will still meet on the 30th. The plan is to start incorporating family services every quarter on the 5th Sunday.
As Mary and reflect on our time here at Columbus First Assembly, it has been two years in January, we can say we have not lost any of our passion for children and we love your children so very much. What a privilege to share God's love with them and get to know them.
Every Sunday I feel so blessed!

I am so excited to share with you that we now have a FULL staff for the preschool area – enough teachers and helpers that we are able to split the preschoolers into two different groups! Because we’ve been running such large numbers, splitting the group allows us to be more relational with your child and will allow us to better share the Bible with them. This will all happen behind the scenes, so no need to worry about where to pick your child up or drop them off – both will be done at the YELLOW room.
In December, your child will be meeting the people of the Christmas story – Mary & Joseph, the Shepherds, the Wisemen, and Baby Jesus. We will have a time of celebration on the 30th, complete with cake and presents!

In December we will look at the 4th Commandment. We will work on the commandment questions for the first two weeks and then we will do a Christmas lesson on the 18th. We will have a Christmas party on December 23rd. After that, we will wrap up the 10 commandments January - March covering two each month. Then we will cover the Bible and the Holy Spirit which will take us to the end of the year. Which will mean anyone who has been with us since we got here will have gone through our entire 3-year curriculum. They will have learned about God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit, Prayer, Worship, Praise, the 10 commandments, Heroes of the faith, and the Bible. Which we will start all over again next year. Any child who is with us from 1st to 6th grade will get to go through the lessons twice.
Here are our 2 new commandment questions.
What is the 4th commandment? Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy.
What is the point of the 4th commandment? To set aside a day for God.
