SCS Strategic Plan Update

SCS staff has hit the ground running this year! We have already initiated many and completed some of the action steps of the Strategic Advancement Plan that was created collaboratively with teachers, support staff, administration, parents, and community members.

Some items that have been accomplished are:

  • A visual of our vision and mission has been created and posted at the entrance of the school
  • Teachers are provided with common collaboration time daily
  • Continue to maintain an active Professional Development Committee
  • Annual orientation for new teachers has been established
  • Regular administrator coffee's have been established
  • Conduct annual climate survey, use data to identify school focus

Items that have been initiated are:

  • Engaging educators in a common book study
  • Exploring effective engagement strategies that address critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and problem solving
  • Research, establish, and implement a phase-in for student-led conferences K-8 where students provide master of outcomes
  • Evaluate and analyze staff learning needs in relation to strategic plan goals through surveys and professional learning feedback
  • Establishing a Technology Committee
  • Researching, identifying, piloting and implementing routine community building activities for grades K-8
  • Reading, researching and identifying best practices in developing positive school culture
  • Reading, researching and identifying best practices in developing social-emotional learning skills
  • Building consensus on K-8 social-emotional practices to be implemented and monitored for fidelity
  • Create classroom constitutions incorporating student voice and ownership
  • Regularly updating web pages including biographies and pictures of teachers

PTO is putting on a fundraiser to raise money for student activities! Fundraiser packets have gone home with all students. Each class that has 40% of their class sell at least one item will earn a pig to decorate for the pig race! If your child's class pig wins the race, they will earn a class prize donated by the PTO. Last year's winners earned a pizza party! Students also have the opportunity to win individual prizes for selling items. Check out the pictures below for sample items your child could earn!
