What's Going On in the Library?

November 2016

Ahoy! The Fall Book Fair is Sailing In!

Our fall book fair will run between Monday, Nov. 14 and Friday, Nov. 18. Classrooms will visit the book fair during their scheduled library time, and families can shop together on Wednesday night from 6:00-7:30 p.m.

The flyer coming home includes just a sampling of the fair books, which can be purchased with cash, credit card, or a check made out to Oak Lawn School. You may send a note/wish list along with the money or email me at mmoore@cpsed.net if you have buying preferences for your student.

You may also preview/purchase more titles by visiting the online fair between now and Nov. 23.

Thanks to everyone who has already signed up to volunteer. If you have the time and a BCI check on file, I still need help for a few shifts: Thursday, Nov. 10 setup; Tuesday, Nov. 15 afternoon shopping; and Friday, Nov. 18 breakdown.

Please feel free to email me at mmoore@cpsed.net with any questions. Thanks! – Meredith Moore, Library Teacher

Meet Jan Brett at Barrington Books Retold

Mrs. Ingalls' FAVORITE children's book author and illustrator, Jan Brett, will be at Barrington Books Retold on Friday, Nov. 25. She'll do a 15-minute drawing illustration and presentation at 3:45 p.m; then she'll sign books, including her brand-new holiday title, Gingerbread Christmas, from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.

The number of books that Jan can sign per family depends on how many people come to the signing. If time does not permit Jan to sign every book, Barrington Books will have special signed bookplates featuring Jan’s artwork for all of the extra books.

Hedgie, Jan’s favorite friend from The Mitten and The Hat, will be visiting as well, and kids can take a photo with him.

The first 100 families to RSVP by pre-ordering Gingerbread Christmas will receive a free, signed Jan Brett poster. Call 401-432-7222 to reserve your copy.
