An Update from Dean Hawkins
Drills This Week:
We will practice our February Evacuation Drill this week on Tuesday (weather permitting). We will share info with you following the drill. We will pull the alarm for this drill however, we will not require any support from our local fire agencies. We have also added our second Lock Down Drill to our calendar on April 5th at 9:30. We will require a police presence for this drill and also invite any family member that would like to observe this drill to be a part on this day. Please call Josh Hawkins for more information 303-655-5103. Thank you!
CHILL Grade Level Assemblies March 29th:
During these assemblies we will be reviewing our CHILL Key expectations in addition to awarding our ARTIC Awards winning students for the third quarter. We will be streaming this assembly to parents that would like to take part (we will be letting parents know ahead of time if their student will be receiving an award!). We will also be using these assemblies to inform students about CMAS prizes etc. in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade.
Discipline Trends: (same as last week)
Our bathrooms continue to be an area of concern for 2nd through 5th graders. Some students, both boys and girls, continue to struggle to treat the bathrooms with respect as we continue to find messes in stalls, countertops as well as the floor. We continue to revisit this expectation as well as create a new system to help keep track of who is going into the bathroom and when. Please help us by reminding your students as well about the need to treat the bathrooms with respect. Thank you so much for your time and help!

Adult Learning
This week our teachers engaged in another round of learning walks. Our goal at Padilla is to create an environment of learning and a culture of learners. By deprivatizing our practice we are able to get into each other's rooms, celebrate great instruction and student learning, and think about ways we can refine our own practices. We know that collective efficacy is built by mastery experiences and vicarious experiences. Utilizing learning walks as part of our professional learning ecosystem allows us to build on our own strengths and see and acknowledge strengths in others. A big thank you to the teachers who hosted our learning walks this week! We appreciate their vulnerability and openness to having us come learn from them and their kids.
