Dear Central Road Families:
Our week was short but no less full of learning! The energy of having our students and staff all back together again after a short break was refreshing and energizing! Your continued support and dedication to our school community is always appreciated. We continue to be in this together. Thank you for taking a moment to read our weekly parent communication. As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have.
Kindest Regards,

Lunch & Recess Update
As of this week, students had more flexibility when playing outdoors during recess with the elimination of classroom zones outside. We too have recess bins for each classroom to engage with basic equipment. Our basketball hoops are up and our students have been excited to play basketball again! As the weather begins to change, please send your child to school with a light jacket. We will continue to go out for recess each day to enjoy the fresh air and physical movement!
We too have worked on adjusting some of our seating arrangements during lunch/eating time to allow for more social distancing. We have been able to make many adjustments for students to be sitting closer to 6 feet apart.
THANK A CENTRAL ROAD STAFF MEMBER
Teachers in general love this time of year. Central Road teachers and staff members take the prospect of beginning a new year to a whole new level. They prepare their classrooms, plan lessons, organize schedules, review student records, and think about all of the possibilities the year ahead holds. As much as we recognize their efforts and successes here at school, nothing means more to a teacher or staff member than a kind word from a student or his/her family. As we get the year underway, I invite you to take notice of the things you see your child's teacher do, hear your child's teacher say, or the things you hear your child gush with excitement about related to their teacher. We've included this simple form for you to submit should you feel so inclined to do so. Children in full day school spend more of their waking day with their teacher than they do with their parents. We thank you for entrusting your child with us! This is going to be a great school year.

Shield Testing Update
We continue to Shield Test students in grades 1-6 on Fridays. Morning KDG/ECDEC classrooms began on Friday, October 8th. Afternoon ECDEC and afternoon KDG classrooms began Shield testing on Tuesday, October 5th. Shield testing is conducted quickly, efficiently and with safety. Results will be available within 24- 48 hours. We contact the parents/guardians of any student who may receive a positive test result ONLY. This information is confidential. If you would like to opt-out/in of Shield Testing, please e-mail Ms. Latham at lathamr@ccsd15.net or Ms. Flor flork@ccsd15.net to note your adjustment.
Students continue to sit 3 feet away from peers masked while learning indoors. Mask wearing outdoors continues to remain optional for students and staff. We have recently adjusted our indoor eating/seating arrangements as best as possible to ensure students are closer to 6 feet apart when eating.
Return to school with COVID-like symptoms (with no known exposure)
- If a person has a COVID symptom and goes home, in order for them to come back, we have to have a negative PCR COVID test and fever-free for 24 hours.
- If they have vomiting or diarhea, they need to be symptom free for 48 hours and have a negative PCR COVID test to return.
- If they have any other COVID symptom, they need to have a negative test to return.
- If they decide not to get a test after a symptom was identified, they can return after 10 days.
If you have any questions regarding your child's health, you may reach me at patela1@ccsd15.net or at 847-963-5102. We will work together to ensure all guidelines are followed and clearly understood while keeping our students all safe and healthy!
Thank you for your patience.
