From Mr. McCall's Desk
The standard is high at Greeneville Middle School. As we hit the midway point of the first 9 weeks, just remember this is a checkpoint, not the final destination. There will be a lot of fun and exciting things happening over the next few weeks at GMS and with that comes even more responsibility in the classroom. Check PowerSchool, observe in Canvas, and have those conversations with your student about what is going on in each of their classes. We are all in this together. As we said last week, success is different for everyone, but it takes all of us to achieve that success.
Have a great one. I appreciate all of you.
Mr. McCall

Nursing News- FLU SHOT
We have hard copies of the flu shot information in the office.
The Greene County Health Department and the Greeneville City School System have partnered to provide seasonal influenza (flu) vaccinations at your child’s school. If your child is uninsured, there is no cost to you for the flu vaccine. If your child is covered by insurance, including TennCare and private insurance, the County Health Department will file a claim with the insurance plan and receive reimbursement directly from the insurance plan. There is no out of pocket cost to you for the flu vaccines provided during this school flu vaccination clinic.
Health Department nurses will vaccinate children and school staff using the injectable (shot) flu vaccine. Clinics will begin as soon as the vaccine arrives at the health department. If there are no complications here are the dates the Health Department is planning to be at your schools:
· Highland Elementary School September 27, 2022
· Eastview Elementary School September 27, 2022
· Hal Henard Elementary School September 27, 2022
· Greeneville Middle School September 28, 2022
· Greeneville High School September 28, 2022
· Tusculum View Elementary September 29, 2022
If you would like for your child to receive flu vaccine, please click on ONE of the following and complete the consent form:
Flu Consent form--English
Flu Consent form--Spanish
Be sure to sign the form electronically as this will be your permission for your student to receive the vaccine. You must fill out a separate consent form for each student you would like to receive the vaccine. If at a later date you change your mind and do not wish for your child to receive flu vaccine at the school, please notify the Greene County Health Department at 423-798-1749 prior to the clinic date. This service to the students and staff is being offered to decrease the impact of seasonal flu in our communities and to decrease school absenteeism.
If you have any questions, please call the Greene County Health Department at 423-798-1749
No Outside Food
No outside food is allowed any time at GMS. We understand stopping for breakfast, but please have them finish any food or drinks before they come into the building. Our cafeteria is open at 6:55am every morning and also helps us with any food allergies at the tables.
Cell Phones
We appreciate everyone's efforts in our new cell phone policy to not only create a SAFE environment for all our students, but protect our instructional time from distractions as well.
-If your student does not follow the GMS Cell Phone policy and has their phone taken to the office, Parents and Guardians may pick those up that afternoon directly after school or the next morning during school hours.
